Wlad's Power is getting overrated. He landed flush shot after flush shot
against Brewster and Wach and couldn't stop them. Yes Brewsters manager rightfully so pulled the plug in the rematch. Tyson has proved time and time again that he cannot be stopped with one shot, even if he walks into a Wlad bomb, he will be stunned, not stopped. Wlad has what 1 inch and 15 pounds over the superheavies that Tyson beat? Prime Mike prob outjabs Wlad before stopping him. Wlad likes people to find his power demoralizing and become passive, once Wlad tastes Mike's power he (Wlad) will become passive. If Wad does go the distance Tyson gets the UD and Wlad might stun him late thats about it.

Yeah and once Tyson is stunned Vlad would put him away, he was a good 10lb heavier than Smith who made Tyson look miniscule. He would pepper Mike, soften him up and most certainly stop him IMO.

maybe in your imagination? smith was 6´4 and 230 pounds? for the tyson fight, mike was 5´11 and around 220? tyson was wide like hell for his height, and he looked wider than smith. wladimir weighed 245 and tyson 220? . 25 pounds in the hw division is not a great factor

I think it is a well thought out take with perceptive insight.

It is when you're fighting someone as skilled as Wladamir who utilises his size perfectly since Emmanuel Steward starting training him.

    Sorry skill, what skill?

all he does is jab people, lean on them, tire them out and clinch.

Tysons style was made to beat fighters like Wladmir. Both Holyfield and Lewis had extra dimensions to their game, something Wladmir hasnt got.

In this fight, when the going gets tough, the tough get going and Tyson was much stronger mentally than Wladmir.

When Tyson brings the heat, Wladmir will melt, he aint Lennox or Evander thats for sure.

Yeah and those skills are what you need to fight much smaller, weaker men. The wrestling alone would bring Tyson to a point of exhaustion and leave him defenceless when Wlad eventually opens up.

Wlad does have the tools to do well here; it's not his physical gifts that are the problem.
I do agree that fighting a larger guy who leans on you will tire the smaller man. It's one of the reasons I think the superbly fit Holyfield looked pretty tired against Big George sometimes...having to fight a larger man wears you out.

That said, I think Tyson has all the tools too to do well. As said, his style and physical assets were perfect to deal with tall boxers with a good jab. Look, a good jabber is trouble for anyone, other good jabbers included.

Tyson was better at dealing with the jab, right hand ( the good old 1-2) than virtually anyone I can think of, and he had the ability to do a little hop-step forward inside and close that distance really quickly, all the while throwing fast, heavy punches. The danger punch for Tyson - the uppercut - is mostly absent from Wlad's arsenal.

The late 90's Tyson would be eating Wlad's punches all night long, I don't doubt that. But the superbly trained and focused late 80's version was an entirely different animal. Far more explosive, far more well-rounded and far more dangerous.

Smaller man or not, he has the ability to annihilate Wlad if he gets his shots in.

Bonecrusher Smith tried that exact same strategy.....did it leave Tyson exhausted and defenceless?

Next you're going to harper on about that 'legendary' punch that Smith connected on Tyson in the last 5 seconds of the 12th round :patsch

Tyson/Wladmir would be a cat/mouse game and Tyson is the cat. He'd be the one hunting down Wladmir, while Wladmir holds on for dear life.

Yes he can hug to a boring decision loss, its either that or get KTFO.

It will take a whole lot more than jab and grab to beat Mike Tyson, and unfortunately thats pretty much all Wladmir has to offer, yes hes got a good right hand, but hell think twice about throwing it when Tyson ducks under and starts banging away

There is a chance that Wladmir could beat Tyson, maybe the Tyson that Lewis beat.....but that Tyson was 14 years past his peak

Bonecrusher Smith couldn't carry Wladamir's jockstrap!

Wladamir's jab is a sickener and would bust Tyson up and leave him open to his pulverising right hand. There's a chance Tyson catches him early but I can't see it myself. The man is too big and too skilled, a good big un will beat a good little un!

Bonecrusher Smith also had a big right hand too.

Hows Wladmir skilled? what skill does he have?

    Jab/grab/clinch/lean.....repeat

Wlads jab looks good against the bums hes been fighting, espeically the ones that come to collect a pay check like Sir David Haye.

He walks into a Tyson overhand right and then thats all she wrote
