    I remember his wins over Dick Tiger, Hurricane Carter and I thought he beat Emile Griffith the 1st fight also SRR and Jose Gonzales, I also thought he beat Don Fulmer in Boston but was robbed. Not much of a puncher but tough as nails and a classic boxer

    He probably belongs in Choklab's top 50 that never won a crown.

    He got some gifts along the way. I thought Mims beat him. Should have been given the shot at Giardello over Carter and probably would have won too but Carter was the easier the pick for the aging champ.

    I agree Joey G did not want Archer at that point in time and Mims fought his ass off, close fight
