All good names :good Now the question is, whom on the list would you replace with any of those names?
Correct you are. He had the NBA version. My bad. Making a list like this drains your brain sometimes and makes you miss the obvious. Appreciate the correction. And Memphis Pal was definitely one I considered. Where would you put him?
Pal Moore is difficult to figure, because I don't have access to any Memphis newspapers. A pity, because the McFarland-Britton bout sounds like one of the most intriguing on Packey's resume.
Too bad you didn't mention anything before. I was just in Memphis last month, about a stone's throw from the library. I will be going back in the Fall. I'll look up that fight, scan and send.
I'd put most of them in place of Bert Gilroy who never beat a class man.I don't pretend to be an expert and everyone will make his own list , but who did Cuddy Demarco beat? I see two draws on his sheet that look good ,thats it. I think you have most of the names but we will all tweak each others picks
Oh if only it wasn't for Tysons elbows, then Biggs would have beat him talk about desperation atsch Listen Tyrell, you were never championship material. Bruce Seldon was better than you
I was trying to accommodate our British brethren there. Didn't want the list to be too America-centric. Cuddy? He beat world champs Benny Bass and Mike Ballerino. Had two nice wins over Jack Zivic, who was a top contender at both lightweight and welter(and was at one time considered a possible successor to Benny Leonard upon BL's retirement). Beat top contenders like Eddie Kid Wagner, Jack Bernstein, Dick Conlon, Joey Silvers. Held Billy Petrolle to a draw. He was Harry Greb's stablemate and blamed Red Mason and Greb for not being able to get a welterweight title shot, due to the latter's unwillingness to negotiate with gangsters.
Well if you want a class lightweight Lew Tendler? Ballerino was a JNR champ don't think there was much iron in that division.
