Time for overrated burns to retire

Abelyan might have beating Salido in a 6 rounder, but you need to look at the bigger picture he had fought and beating good opposition before and after the Harrison fight he was good kid. Abelyan fought Victor Polo, Salido and beat Guty Espadas jr in between Guty's two world title fights with Erik Morales. Abelyan went on to beat Martin Honorio after Harrison. Gonzalez hadn't done anything before or since Burns, so how can he be viewed as a better win than Abelyan when he's not proved anything you said it yourself.

As for Brodie yeah he was bitter before and after the fight as well and going on that interview he's still bitter about it. He was a top fighter Brodie, but he always had his excuses after he lost a fight even after the InJin Chi loss, so you need to remember that. Scott and Brodie could have fought anytime and the result would have been the same because of their styles it would have always ended up in the trenches and there would only be one winner - Scott Harrison.

 

Correct Moog! Harrison was the unfashionable champion and none of the big boys wanted anything to do with him. It's a pity the Injin Chi fight never came off at the time because Scott would have been too hard and intelligent for him.

 

Scott would beat Brodie every time they meet, chi would have been a very physically demanding fight but I agree Scott was cleverer and I think he'd nick it.Scott loves opponent in front of him or him drawing them into a fight, however speed and movement were his downfall and Ricky sticking to a game plan would have too much for Scott, even if they just went for it from the first bell

 

None of the big boys wanted to waste their time and reputations with the WBO belt. It's only very recently that attitudes towards the belt amongst the elite fighters have begun to change. Could you even unify with the WBO when Harrison was champ? I know you couldn't in the 90s and it's only in the last few years that you could unify the WBC with the WBO.

And don't give me that Harrison and his team would have been willing to drop the belt. No chance. That's the whole point of holding that particular belt - you get good money, almost certainly will get to avoid fighters high in the WBA/C/IBF rankings and will not be called on to fight one of the other champs.

Oh yeah, and Chi would have been too strong for Harrison, who around the middle of his reign forgot how to use the boxing ability he had. He can't overpower Chi badly enough for a big advantage and probably couldn't sufficiently outwork him either.

 

Wasn't the IBO belt seen as more prestigious back then than the wbo? Even the wbu cent have been that much worse from memory with the likes of hatton and neary

Even now the WBO is the clear 4th choice of the belts, even the likes of froch and Floyd have zero interest in getting one of those belts

 

Crakin list but don't think even in prime would have beaten Barrera or Marquez who said Marquez never fancied it not heard that before

 

It would have been great to see the unification with Chi, but Scott would have been to much for him. Chi went to hell with Brodie and Sugama and Scott was a level above them two, so he would have got to Chi and stopped him, far too hard and intelligent.
Scott had his problems with southpaws more than anything else, but he always found away through it.
In their primes Ricky would give Scott something to think about, but it would come down to who has more determination and toughness and we both know Scott would come out on top as he's got all the ingredients.

 

Ryan styles make fights Brodie was clearly better when he fought chi and made chi move a lot hence giving him problems, now chi v Scott they'd meet in the middle of the ring and really just go for it, I've worked with both boys in there prime and Ricky wins the fight and that's just my opinion but I'm well placed to give it

 

Now that was always my fantasy fight.

Naz is on there a year after he retired and it's irrelevant about the others in there as all the major bodies will rank the non-champs/guys not committed to one route
