IMO YES. Although Lara gets a lot of crap for being a boring fighter, this is a very relevant fight. The undercard looks to be fun as well.
Yes it is. This is a competitive tough fight featuring two major stars in the sport, what more can anyone ask for?
Alvarez is a star by any measurement of numbers. Lara is the next best fighter in the division which Alvarez is ranked. Of course it's a PPV worthy match up.
No, not at all. They're content to find out who's number 2 in the division. If Canelo gets past Lara spectacularly (knock-out or shut-out), then Cotto vs. Canelo at middleweight is PPV worthy. I can't see Canelo beating Lara legitimately though.
The fight is definitely PPV worthy. However, the fighters aren't notable enough to merit such an event from a casuals perspective or even a hardcore sports fan perspective. This is why boxing has become a fringe sport. Sorry to say, it's a self inflicted wound. With any luck, those In Power will come to their senses before it's too late, for the betterment of the sport as a whole.
Not every good fight is worth $60-70 on PPV. This is one of those fights that are significant and it's a very good and intriguing fight, but I don't think it belongs on PPV, maybe at $30-40 yeah, but the full PPV price. They are trying to make Canelo the next De La Hoya. Look at DLH's early career, bunch of PPV fights that didn't really belong but they sold decent numbers 200-300k. I think if Canelo-Lara does 300k, they will be very happy, because GBP knows very well this isn't a PPV fight. Look at the promotion too, the fight is barely known to casuals and it is not being promoted as that big of a fight, I only see Lara talking it up, trying to sell the fight but nothing else. It appears that GBP is ready to see this fight do like 200k PPV buys and they don't care, but would be more than happy to see it do 300k+. They got away with the Angulo fight on PPV because fans, including me, thought it was going to be a fire fight but instead it was a complete blow out and destruction, to Canelo's credit though.
