Do you think fans overrated Mike Tyson? I think Tyson was good, but he wasn't the greatest Heavyweight. In my opinion, Lewis was a better fighter than him. Plus I rank Holyfield higher than him too. Don't get me wrong I like Tyson a lot, but I call a spade a spade. He was kinda fighting easy fights especially with Michael Spinks.
By a lot of casual fans. Most fighters are both overrated and underrated, depends on whom is doing the rating. Tyson has a lot of extremes.
ha michael spinks easy fight lol michael spinks he beat an undefeated larry holmes and the great white hype gerry cooney, michael spinks was not an easy fight, maybe easy for mike tyson because the man was an absolute beast. no mike tyson from 85-89 was not overrated he was a monster who would give any atg a nightmare head to head.
I don't rate Holyfield above tyson, tyson cleaned out a division and had his own short era of dominance Holyfield was never the top man there was alway a guy or two there with h and when he beat tyson, tyson was no where near his peak and Holyfield faught an incredibly dirty fight an was aloud to get away with it by an imcompent referee An clean win is better than a dirty win I'm my book no matter then circumstances
Yeah, but Tyson was Ko'ed in their first fight. Then the second he bit Holyfield's ear off. Now come on that won't right. Basically Holyfield owned him twice.
IMO Tyson is an ATG. His reign was dominant but short(ish) lived. IIRC in his initial reign he had 9 successful defences and lost to Douglas on his 10th defence. His prime/peak was short lived because he got rich and too famous too quickly and wasn't mature enough to hold it all together. His dedication waned and the inevitable happened as he quickly declined. Prison took away 3 of his years that could've been so different. All ifs n buts but IMO Tyson had it all physically and technically. Mentally was where he was unravelling and lost it. And everyone knows its the fire in your heart that keeps you burning and keep winning...once that goes out the body will no longer do what it could when the fire was burning. It all starts in the heart..once the heart loses it the body does follow.
Did you watch the first fight ? Holyfield headbutted him so much it made ward -Kessler look like a glowing example of clean fighting and he was the taller guy Ffs he shouldn't have been in a position to headbutt him, tyson was complaining of double vision after the 2nd round And after all that in the second fight Holyfield kept up his headbutting tactics and the referree let him do it, if you fight dirty than you can't complain when someone fights dirty back, what he did was crazy but what was he supposed to do let Holyfield headbutt him all not while the ref laughs at it He beat a past his prime tyson and he had to use extremely dirty tactics to do so, for all we know he could have won fighting clean but he didn't so that takes away from them victories
youngest to win the heavyweight championship. unified the titles. beat michael spinks and larry holmes. ripped through the heavyweight division and made very good fighters look very ordinary. mike tyson is an atg. keep in mind he did all of this at a very young age. in my opinion....he didn't have the maturity to maintain it....but he got to the mountain top.
Aw, was that big bad bully Evander too rough on little Mikey:| Mike said himself that he initiated the dirty stuff and Evander just got the better of that to. Besides, if Evander Was roughing the power pnching Mike up too much, shouldn't the "baddest man on the planet" be able to do something about it besides gettimg his azz kicked or disqualified? "This is the hurt buisiness so I can't complain"- Mike Tyson Please stop whining and making excuses. It really does Mike a disservice.
I can see your a protected child that's never been headbutted in your life, you had no business in this discussion as you've no idea how damaging they can be, Your opinion is worthless
i think what happens a lot of times with younger guys like yourself, you have his whole career available at your finger tips, the good and the bad. hind sight is 20/20....but if you experienced his rise and fall....and understood that when he was coming up, there were guys that were supposed to beat him...or expose him...and he blew right through them. the names might not look very familiar...or they may have lost some of their shine and appeal...but the guys he was beating were solid.
