Herrera is covering up and curling his back as Perez bullies him into the ropes with jabs and clubbing rights. Herrera tries pushing forward with up-jabs, fencing with Perez and tilting his neck to slip Perez's jab, stuffing his own up forcefully and high into Perez's eyes. Perez is able to stem all of Herrera's offensive surges and put him back on the ropes, jabbing and clubbing and getting in a few long-armed body licks from safety without getting drawn into pocket warfare.

Herrera is playing possum as Perez moves him across the ring with jabs, rights, and hooks by turn. Herrera rolls with the shots and lowers his face down below his shoulders. Herrera explodes with an overhand right counter and has Perez buzzed and fleeing. Herrera emerges from the corner like a fireball and flurries hard on Perez, who fires back standing his ground without clinching. Mostly Perez is missing his stuff but he is managing to scramble the radar of Herrera, a tangle of arms between them, nobody getting through or able to get a clear look.
