Everybody's talking about how Lara ran for 12 rounds, when mayweather fights he evades punches for 12 rounds, is there any difference or is it that Lara isn't American? Thoughts
Just to put it in perspective, Floyd is considered by many to be a runner but Lara makes Floyd look like a brawler.
I've been saying it for the longest Mayweather for the most part stay' s directly in opponent's punching range and slips punches, Lara stays on the outside and rarely engages they do not fight remotely the same the only similarities is they both get there offense primarily through counter punches. Mayweather's defense is his shoulders and upper body movement Lara's defense is his foot movement
Canelo didn't even try to shorten the distance on mayweather, maidana did it with ease for the first4-5 rounds
Mayweather uses his defense and offense at the same time. He throws different punches unpredictably and constantly figures out his opponent's next move and always has an answer for it. All Lara did was move and throw one twos. If you can't see the difference yourself then you're an idiot.
Floyd hasn't really ran or used that much backfoot/lateral movement in a while. He's largely a pocket fighter. When's the last time he used that much backfoot and lateral movement like Lara against Canelo? Baldomir? Castillo 2?
Floyd fights consistently over the 12 rounds, even with his economical safety-first style. He doesn't risk much, but he doesn't move just to move, as Lara does. Lara threw 386 total punches tonight for an average of 32 punches per round, and he punched less in the second half of the fight. That is a ridiculously low number for the weight class. He was also mostly headhunting and throwing straight shots with a few right hooks mixed in. As the fight went on, Lara's punches were also more of the keepaway variety and less of the solid work he did early on. Comparatively, Floyd threw 505 punches against Canelo for an average of 42 punches per round, and was around that average almost every round. Not a high number of punches either, but a big difference in output from Lara, and Floyd mixed up his punches a lot better.
Again, haven't seen the fight yet but floyd generally in fights keeps his distance in early rounds then picks his work rate up about half way through the fight, he was on his bike with hatton, Guerrero and cotto a fair bit
I don't consider Mayweather a boring fighter really....He's just careful and doesn't take unnecessary risks....But he does stand his ground and fight and he has underrated toughness.... Lara on the other hand is a BORING fighter....As is Rigo and a few others...
