I personally love watching floyd for his skills, I'm a trainer and love to pick apart skill sets, from a trainers point of view, you don't want your charge getting battered, from a fans view, that's all they want to see, I watch floyd for this reason but I definitely don't find him an exciting fighter, talented, skilled yes, Taylor v Chavez was a *******, perfect fight in my eyes
The difference would be Mayweather landing more than double the punches Lara landed. Mayweather punishes you for your mistakes while Lara simply skips away, does a full circle of the ring and throws a jab. Canelo looked lost during some points of the Mayweather fight, he never looked like that against Lara. Lara simply never put enough hurt on Canelo to ever make him think Lara was in full control.
Mayweather hasn't been on his bike since early rounds against Hatton. He doesn't have the legs anymore to do. He uses lateral movement here and there but is mostly a pocket fighter.
They fought late 2007, hatton chased him around like a crazy man, couldn't land anything but chased him for the first 5 or so rounds then eased off
Difference is Floyd does it better than Runra x 100. At the end of the fight you can say, yeah, Floyd won he schooled the boy although you're not happy cuz he runs but he definitely wins.Lara it's like Fark me the kid just ran like a sissy and then get pissed off seeing him raise his hands up like he did enough to win by running, avoiding for 12 rounds and occasionally punching in spots. I mean F me by gee no way he deserved to win. Utter bollocks!!
Mayweather doesn't run. He stands right in front of you and you still can't hit him. The biggest difference between them is accuracy. Mayweather is infinitely better offensively than Lara.
So Lara is a slick hit and run boxer that runs more than mayweather but canelo as slow as f managed to shut the distance down on Lara and pull off the win?
Floyd stands right in the pocket and shuts down offense by hitting when you don't expect it. He led against Alvarez right in front of him the majority of the fight. Lara moved the whole time and even though he landed sharp counters you get the sense he never "made" the fight. Floyd looks completely in control most of the time- you are doing what he wants (except for his last fight, which didn't stick to his plan, but he was still there to be hit when his shoulder roll failed against Madaina). Lara is a straight back foot runner with only marginal control of the fight, like Spinks against Mayorga- spinks actually fell down countless times evading punches - he should have been penalized, that isn't fighting or ring control, it is running.
Let me make a comparison about why Floyd is better. I sparred a guy with a fifty pound weight advantage in the gym once who was taking it way too seriously, a south paw who knew what he was doing. I usually stand in range and blast people my size, but his punches hurt way too much. Without the skills to stand in front of him, I had to create range with my fast legs and pot shot to avoid getting hurt. I couldn't have stood in the pocket with him because I ddnt have the strength or skill, but anybody with faster feet can run and shoot out a disciplined jab. It doesn't take skill. It just takes a style choice not to engage to stay alive. Once you decide to do this you aren't the aggressor anymore. If I tried to shut down his offense from a flat footed or non back foot style I would have been pulverized.
Never box a boxer, maidana brawled for the first 5 rounds, that is where he was making big inroads, then changed strategy and stayed at a distance causing himself a loss, canelo is faster and stronger than maidana, canelo just chose to fight on the outside, why, I don't know
That was floyd reading him because Canelo has conventional punches. Madaina wings from wherever with no style but with force and deceptive speed. Floyd shut down Canelo like he shut down marquez. Text book fighters with conventional punching styles who don't have real pressure hand speed are worthless against Floyd. Canelo isn't awkward like madaina. Corrales wasn't awkward, but Emmanuel Augustus sure was. Floyd had to fight Augustus.
