Talk down a fight that needs to happen when it's between a member of hos team and a rival?

Frampton/Quigg - Joe was THE ONLY person who didn't want it to happen.

Smith/Fielding - Same again. Eddie, Glenn, Paul Smith and Johnny were all for ir yet Joe throws his toys out of the pram.

    Anyone else agree?

Completely agree he comes across like a dick, I'm glad Eddie shut him down he needs to remember his place he's a trainer he has nothing to do with promoting fights!!

Why wouldn't eddie go for smith and fielding soon? There both young enough to come again whoever loses and it will be great big fight experience for both fighters and would sell out in Liverpool...yeah good idea to skip past it joe

You can argue wait until there both bigger names but there both not guarenteed to go all the way so why not make the fight now and see who comes out on top

Joe loves himself. I'd just like to see him produce some world champions.

I was pissed off cos it was Callum's interview, and the question was put to Callum to answer and he was about to. Joe butting in was disrespectful and made Callum seem a bit silly as well.

Agree, and he in my opinion treated Callum like a naughty school boy. Callum was about to answer the question and he jumped in, and took over. Think he's a good trainer but I cant remember a trainer who talks so much publicly ! It would be a great competitive fight, personally I think Callum wins. Shame of time of year (when it could happen) as you could have put that on with Clev v Bellew at Anfield or Goodison.

Agree its down to Callum/Promoter who he fights, its ok getting input from trainer but not him deciding for you. As I say I think he is a good trainer but is helped by Geography, as he is able to take on good fighters from Manchester and Liverpool, 2 boxing hotbeds. I am sure your Peter Harrisons and Billy Nelsons would look gr8 with his stable of fighters, so he should remember its about the boxers. At end of day Callum would prob get 3/4 x more dough for fighting Fielding than his opponents so far

Smith v Fielding on the undercard of Clev v Bellew 2 would be a great fight.

No need to Smith and Fielding yet.. They should go down different routes. Degale v Groves was too early if that was made now as a first fight could of been PPV especially after Froch v Groves.. I think it's the same as this one. It isn't a gimme fight for Smith let him win a world title then the fight becomes huge.. Arthur Abraham would be a good fight after he beats his brother..

Possibly yeah degale and groves should have been left because now we know that they have both gone all the way but the 2nd fight between them(if it happens) will probley be bigger because of the first fight.

The risk is that it's hard to tell how far a fighter will go when there still novice pros if you miss the fight now what if for example smith keeps flying up the rankings to world level whereas fielding hits euro level and does not progress further? The fight would be not as big and a missed opportunity

Personally I'm all for getting up and coming prospects fighting why not? A loss is not the end of a young fighters career by any means both smith and fielding could still go all the way regardless of the outcome look at degale and groves

Those two fights would struggle to sell half of Goodison (prob would be near 45k for boxing) or anfield (nearer 50k for boxing), could only sell a large chunk of tickets in those two stadiums if you have a smith or two in a world title fight against a reasonably big name opponent (ie paul smith v froch/groves/degale/Kessler)

But yeah that fight is the perfect chief support for clev bellew 2

Would rocky ever be world level or near that level though, think he's good but don't think his ceiling is as high as Callum's, so now could be the best time when they are at a similar level (5/6th SMW in Britain) rather than in two years time when one could be levels ahead of the other
