They wouldn't win titles by themselves thats for sure. Dwight Howard is a genetic freak easily a top 3 centre at the moment. He'd beat them 1 on 1 without breaking a sweat are you kidding me?

I agree with this, but I wonder if the lure of bigger bucks towards other sports in the US will water-down the image of the HW's
I think it's inevitable that the US will lose its hold over the HW's (its already happening/happened) because of this

the P4P PPV kings like Floyd, manyn, Oscar and tito don't have too many challengers from the HW division over the past 15 years

the dynamics in the sport are definitely changing

Oh yeah and Americans who pretend sissy crap like basketball is "where all the great boxers went" because they can't admit that once the sport went international, the talent level left them in the dust.

the sport has always been international
it doesn't take a brainiac to know that a great athlete has a much better chance of getting rich (now that sport is insanely big bucks) playing basketball or football, than he does boxing

i'm not making excuses for anything

Yeah I'm starting to think the division isn't nearly as bad as some suggest, it's just different nowadays. Some pretty decent fighters currently, HW is coming out of it's slump in my opinion.

I will admit that when Valuev came around at 7-2 305 lbs with nothing but a jab and clubbing R hand, and won a title on size alone, I was a bit worried. Especially since both K2 were dying to fight him and he wouldnt fight except who King could manipulate.
Here was guy nearly losing to a 43/44 yo Holyfield who'd been BEASTED by fellow roider and former MW JLOT, and he was nearly able to pull it out vs th behemouth.
It left a bad taste when a guy from the previous ear was able to compete so closely with a top 3 in that era.:think

That said, I have revised my position some knowing now, seeing BHOP, how TRT can extend your career. And all it takes is an NDA or USADA testing to pull it off.:D

It wasn't that Valuev was good, but he was huge, and with the roids, Toney would NOT have beaten Holy, and Holy would not have hung with Valuev.

Prime for Prime.....Holyfield digs a win out, 9/10 times, but the roids kept him around well past his due date, and hopefuly his brain and body dont pay too dearly for his decisions. Same goes for JLOT.:think

No one wants to watch two unathletic fat plodders with no technical skills fight. Serious why are some of you in denial about the sorry state of the heavyweight division. Its like you're trying hard to convince yourself that heavyweight is in good shape when its obvious that it is not.

Do you wanna know what I thought about the hugfests I used to watch in the 90s.
You had two guys grappling for 12 rds. Only Foreman and Tyson came to fight each time out, and they both got tied up by the huggybears.:lol::lol:

You ppl fukk with Wlad.....he's just perfecting 90s boxing.:roll::roll:

The two best heavyweight fight of the last ten are Klitchko vs Lewis, and Brewster vs Lyakhovich. That say it all about the state of the Heavyweight division. But, if you want to convince yourself that there are better fighters in this era than there were in the 1990s go ahead.

Don't be afraid to criticize your boy Klitschko yeah..
Wlad vs Povetkin was worse than all 3 of those fights combined. In fact all of Wlads fights are complete and utter ****.

That is why the division sucks.

Welterweight is, and has always been the strongest division in boxing.

The fact that Fury, a plodder with poor defense, a sloppy style, and a weak chin is a contender shows how bad the HW division is right now.

The heavyweight division is the best one of the lot.

    That is a a fact.
