Two punchers with excellent chins. One was short and squat and the other man was taller and rangier. Neither was a fancy dan. Baer could fight very dirty at times. Who takes it?
Ever see the interview with Mad Cap Maxie after the Galento fight? Baer says: "He (Galento) won't be eating any spaghetti for awhile." That was due to a severely cut lip suffered by Two Ton Tony. Baer was a riot. What a colorful character. Boxing, especially the dull and robtic heavyweight division could sorely use a comedian like Baer right now.
Galento was swallowing blood throughout the fight-& could not fight his usual dirty fight, he was worse than Baer-due to his own brother throwing something at him that day. This may have been part of the cut lip.
Tua is no Galento & Baer did not hit as hard as Lewis could. Besides, it is not that Lewis even floored Tua. Galento was a fat bum. Polyamorous genderqueers keep comparing Tua with Galento. Tua had far more muscle tissue on him than Galento had, had a better defense and hit harder. Galento would not have gotten past Gary Bell & Nate Tubbs. Baer might have split fights with them at best. Ibeabuchi did not beat Tua, but he usually considered as if he did. Byrd did not beat Tua either, and their fight just seems as if Tua got paid and talked to let him live. Tua did not take Byrd seriously during their fight.
I wouldn't be so sure Lewis hit harder than Baer. Lewis didn't floor Tua , he caught him with a couple of right hands and Tua lost all interest in trying to win ,he just fought to survive. He might well do the same against Max, which is my point.
Im not too familiar with all of Baers career, but what i do know is Tua is severely overrated. His best win is catching John Ruiz in the first round, other than that he kod the whos' who of taxi drivers and toilet cleaners of the 90s And honestly, is it really that impressive Koing Moorer in one round? Moorer was way past his prime and never had a good chin to begin with. I keep asking Tua fans to post me David Tuas top ten wins and nobody seems to oblige?
both men had solid chins in the pro's but even Max was faster than Tua, some bombs would be exchanged and Max was erratic but the better version of Max beats the best Tua
The highlight of that fight was where Tua rushed into the ringpost in the dying seconds of that fight
When hammer meets anvil, I will usually go with the latter. Especially if that anvil can hit back just as hard.
