Yes Billy that is the case Marquez withdrew his mandatory. That was the point I was trying to make if Marquez hadn't withdrawn from his mandatory position Scott would have been forced to fight him, but Marquez went down a different route :good
Kev Marquez would have beating Scott IMO. Marquez is one of the great, great fighters and still is. IMO Marquez was even better than Barrera and Morales and also has Manny Pacquiao's number, but the fact is he went down a different route. As for the the wrecking machine comment I don't know about that that's your words not mine.
Defo agree on comment about mab and em Marquez doesn't get as much credit but calibre of opponents throughout career is unreal and changed his style to be more crowd pleasing obvs ur massive Scott fan how would u see him against Barrera Marquez morales or Guzman if both fighters prime IMO loses all 4 but prob best chance of beating Guzman who had talent but didn't seem interested y didn't Scott want to move up in weight if it was killing him to make weight he prob would have had a gd ranking at time after just 1fight of he chose to relinquish belt at time was ther no manes at tht weight at timr
I remember for the pending Marquez, Guzman fights Billy was not part of Scotts team, he was training with John Breen in Belfast for them
scott couldn't even attend my wedding because of his issues which was really dissappointing, however moog I think this old threads came to a close now, all the best.
No problem Billy :good, but since you asked my opinion on the Jorge Barrios fight no happening was it because Barrios was the biggest super-featherweight in the world at that time and used to come in over 150 lbs. I remember Barrios used to blow opponents away in a round or two due to his size and strength and I also remember him losing his title on the scales one time, so maybe Peter didn't want that fight because Scott had bigger fish to fry and he would rather his boy have stayed at featherweight to get a unification fight with Chi or wait until he got a super fight with Barrera up at super-featherweight.
i see your point but do remember Scott would be 150lbs going into the ring and he was only a FW. It's **** we never got unification fights to be fair
I know Scott was big for a featherweight, but I never thought he would be able to come in as massive as 150 + lbs like Jorge Barrios after all they never called Barrios the biggest super-featherweight in the world for nothing. I agree it's shite we never got to see unifications fights up here. Injin Chi was there for the taking IMO. Then you have Ricky he should have got two unification fights one against Mzonke Fana at super-featherweight and one up at lightweight against Miguel Vaszquez or whoever.
I always thought Scott came in around the 140ib mark, though Billy would know that one better than me
very true mate,Scott was easily the biggest featherweight at that time, we were told tony webber the Aussie was going to be massive he looked like a wee boy beside Scott in the ring. My favourite story was Wayne saying he was super confident after the weigh in with Scott and was buzzing in the ring, he told me he was looking over the ring when I came through the ropes then he couldn't believe the size of Scott his words to me were 'he was a monster' lol I loved being involved with Scott I learnt so much but he should have moved up
