Don't you find it ironic that the last two Mayweather fights have been clouded in controversy? Is it just all one big coincidence? I'm trying to give both Floyd and Maidana the benefit of the doubt. I hope the glove issue isn't a distraction or a storyline heading into the rematch. I think most fans just want to eliminate the BS and have a fair fight with no excuses!!

Although neither side would disclose the terms of the deal -- or even admit that there was one -- sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com that Mayweather agreed to pay Maidana an additional $1.5 million to change gloves. That doubled Maidana's official purse, which was $1.5 million on his Nevada contract. However, sources told ESPN.com that Maidana was guaranteed $4.2 million and wound up earning at least $5.7 million, including the payment for the gloves change.

So who exactly are these mystery sources? They damn sure ain't Marcos Maidana!! I think he'd know better than ESPN's mystery sources....I chose to believe Maidana

So Floyd giving up 15 lbs to Canelo and Maidana is a fair fight? Oh wait Canelo needed to be at least 170 to beat a welterweight and Maidana needs special gloves in addition to multiple fouls, rabbit punches, tackles, knees and bites....is that the controversy you referring to?

But he did pay JMM so he could weigh in at 147 for a 144lb fight vs a lightweight. Am I right?

Obviously you don't understand the rules of boxing. The rules of boxing are that you have to make weight at the weigh-in, and after you make weight you can gain as much weight as you want. It is only FLoyd and TMT that seems to use this non-factor as an excuse to drain Canelo and take his money if he don't make a catchweight.

Bottom line, that type of unprofessionalism is bad for boxing, it's bad for business. It's not ethical to do something like that. It's also not ethical to accuse someone of doing roids (Pacquiao) without any proof. Now he's accusing Maidana of not having padding in his glove for the first fight. It's always something with this guy and you *****s like sheep just keep making excuses for this guy.

ESPN is a joke. On this point I agree with you 100%. My original post was that it was ESPN reporting this, supposedly reputable sources, that put out this apparent misinformation. I'm glad he found that link so we know that was in fact reported by ESPN.

If Marcos is lying about being paid off then his need and demands for special gloves is also a lie, right?

Usually when parties settle, part of the agreement is non-disclosure.

If it was non disclosure then he wouldn't have disclosed that he wasn't paid anything extra at all!!
