Fight anyone with any glimmer of a name. I'm talking guys who aren't good enough like Tyson Fury. The main thing is to have his name ringing in everyone's heads down the line. Say he smashes Fury, retires, then Fury gets the title. That 1 on his record will always be mentioned.

Hard one though. The competition just makes it difficult for the guy.

Retire as undisputed champ ...He doesn't have the names Lewis had to fight but that would be decent enough and comparable to LL.

We'll have to see what the rest of the division does when he retires.

If they go on to be great, then his wins will look very good.

That ship has already sailed. There's nothing Wlad can do to be elevated above Lennox Lewis. NOTHING.

Just keep winning. Unify the final belt, fight the best contenders, keep knocking mofos out. The rest will sort itself out.

    Wlad needs to:

    * Beat the winner of Stiverne-Wilder and win the WBC title
    * Beat the winner of Jennings-Perez
    * Beat the loser of either Jennings-Perez or Stiverne-Wilder
    * Beat a relatively young, promising heavyweight - like Fury or even Joseph Parker.
    * Retire undefeated with all four belts.

Winning all the belts would be great, retiring with all of them would even be greater. But don't discount beating someone younger, like Fury or even Joseph Parker next year.

Larry Holmes' reputation was enhanced when guys he beat - like Mike Weaver, Tim Witherspoon and even Bonecrusher Smith - won titles later on. And Spoon and Smith only had like 14 or 15 fights. Parker will have that many by next Spring.

Fury is going to be around for another 15 years. He will probably win a title somewhere, someplace over the next decade and a half. When Wlad's gone, guys like Jennings and Wilder and Perez are going to fight for vacant belts, too. Parker is growing in popularity and could be very good in a couple years.

Beating any of them (even if they are viewed as huge underdogs now) will help. Hell, Smith, Spoon and Weaver were hopeless underdogs against Holmes. When they became champs, people didn't recall what mismatches those were going in ... just that Holmes beat guys who later became champs.

Same thing happened with Lennox Lewis. Winning over Vitali Klitschko was huge. Vitali's reign helped boosted Lewis' reputation in retirement. If Golota or Tua had gone on to win titles too, Lewis would probably be rated even higher than he is now.

If Wlad retires with all the belts, and some of the guys he beats at the end of his career go on to win heavyweight titles and become popular champs ... Wlad's career will be viewed in a better light as the years go by.

Takam could go in there, too.

Wlad only needs to unify and beat three or four more guys. But they have to be fighters who are young enough that there's a good chance they can be champs someday - either right after he retires or years from now, it doesn't matter. The younger they are, the wider the window is open.

Funny, I could say the same thing about Floyd.

Floyd could beat Thurman, Porter, Andrade, or Garcia, and if they go on to be great, his reputation will go up. He already has a win over Canelo, who could clean out JMW.
