I don't think much of the "level playing field" at high levels of competitive sports, especially when millions and millions of dollars are at stake. It would not surprise me in the least if Pacquiao as well as a lot of his competitors took PEDs to get an edge. I didn't need Mayweather's laughable claim of wanting to "clean up the sport" to have my suspicions that it may be much more widespread than people believe (or want to believe). At the highest level, the mid-level, low-level, etc...

I watched James Toney fight Danny Batchedler, in which both fighters tested positive for PEDs (I think Toney took a horse steroid). It was one of the worst fights ever.

I wouldn't really put much stock in Pacquiao's performances from 2011-on as "evidence" that he took PEDs. He had nearly 60 pro fights and boxed over 300 rounds as a pro. He also had a high energy style and was never a defensive whiz. He took a pretty good deal of punishment. The fights with Marquez, Morales, Cotto, and Margarito were all physically taxing fights. I really had expected him to have a short prime due to his style.

The last time I thought he looked good was Margarito, and interestingly, the 4th Marquez fight in which he was KTFO. He was actually looking quicker, sharper, and more aggressive than he had since 2010. Unfortunately, that aggression worked against him.

Speaking of Margarito, people have also said he never looked any good after the handwrap debacle to make the argument that he always sucked and needed his illegal wraps to be effective.

I certainly don't believe the Mosley fight was the first time he used, or tried to use, loaded gloves. But I think it would be pretty difficult to do this every time he fought. My guess is that he had heavy hands to begin with, and his disgusting tactics added to the damage he did.

But as far as him having such little success after being caught, well look at whom he was fighting and the mileage he had on him. He was no defensive whiz and took a lot of punishment in the ring, and was known for gym wars as well. He was already slowing down, watch his fights in 2008 against Cintron and Cotto and then watch him a few years earlier against Antonio Diaz. Noticeable decline in speed.

He got the crap kicked out of him by Mosley, in which we naturally may question his concentration after being caught. He lost to Manny Pacquiao, an ATG and at worst, the 2nd best P4P fighter in the world at the time. And he lost to Cotto in a rematch when he was essentially fighting with one working eye.

That doesn't really scream to me "Plasterito was only good because of his loaded gloves".

Pacquiao doesn't say a lot of things. He can't speak for himself.

ShoutOut to boxing_master for posting undoubtedly his best thread ever. It really gives us a better estimate of Pac's steroid use window. Instead of posting all those Floyd threads, you should post more Pac threads.

    I said this yesterday:

But I will correct myself and say that prior to 140 Pacquiao was great. Since then, see above.

Got to agree with you there.
Especially with boxing-master posting all the dates, one truly has a birds eye view of when manny stopped using.

I wonder if he works for The Money Team or just hates PAC enough to expose him to this degree

    But once again thanks boxing-master:good

I'd have to agree. I mean, his dominance truly had a light switch effect. On and then off in the blink of an eye. I mean he went from doing this

    to this

    It's amazing to me.

This thread just assured me that Pac was on the mario stars. He had to be.

He didnt knock Bradley down once. And barely hurt him. Provo had Timmeh on his toe. And then I guess we could say, well its because Pacquiao is fighting bigger guys. BUT! Timmy was just coming up from JWW when he fought Pac. and Provo had NEVER fought at WW when he dropped and gave Bradley a concussion.

    Doesn't make sense :think

Round of applause for boxing_master. You da man

Truly a legend. One of the best ever to lace up the gloves without a doubt.
