Why didn't Tyson use any head movement in the Buster Douglas fight?

Yeah and Tyson was fat and overweight...... Oh wait!!

Tyson in his prime and unbeaten was demolished by Douglas, that sir is a FACT!!

Tyson went on a crash diet to get rid of the fat on an emergency basis. He wasn't in fighting shape not did he have the stamina for going into a lengthy battle which reflected in his lack of head movement and minimum punches he threw.

This is the fact behind his defeat. I wont say it was a complete demolition, tyson still took those punches for ten rounds unlike a glass chin Lewis who got floored by one punch in his Losses.

Hahahaha can you send me a link to this crash diet that Tyson took, you keep on stating facts that are nothing but excuses with no evidence to prove it!

I've heard rumours Douglas was 500lb 3 months before the fight and didn't eat or drink nothing in his camp, that's a fact!

I'd hate to see what you would call a demolition job if you don't think that fight was!

Don't know if you're being sarcastic but he sure as hell would have been bothered after the first round.

If you look up the internet you can find out the Tyson was on a salad and soup diet to shed 30 pounds in 2 weeks before the fight. I am not denying Douglas superior performance that day. Your just focused on belittling and mocking Tyson

If you look on the internet you'll find out that Douglas had been very ill prior to the fight and had been on medication and antihistamines. You're just looking for excuses for why Tyson got a beating.

Those antihistamines and medication gave Douglas extra powers. Use your brain.

Douglas was in the best shape of his life that night, that was his best version ever, there are loads of reasons that have been documented that the death of his mother motivated him and just made him supremely focused and fearless that night as compared to Tyson who was just partying, screwing hookers like no tomorrow, barely training and even then getting knocked out by all his sparring partners. These are all captured in many documentaries, autobiographies, testimonials of all the major players involved and is not fabricated stuff. But no excuses douglas was the better fighter that night, long count or not, Tyson deserved to lose that match.

In a rematch Tyson would have won against douglas assuming he trained harder and more professionally just like Lewis rightfully avenged his defeats to McCall and rahman because he got a reality check which forced him to train harder and more professionally for those rematches and nine times out of ten the better fighter will be backed to win against a bum. Douglas exposed himself in his title defence against holyfield and all his subsequent fights later on.

I can never understand folks who claim guy A would always beat guy B, even when B was clearly way off his game, due to age, training, or other factors-When guy B almost won or almost Koed guy A!

That is illogical, & especially when combined with mean-spirited mockery it just shows a juvenile agenda: over-identification with a fighter or a reactionary hatred of another as part of an unhealthy ego defense.

Tyson looked bad, lacked movement, combinations, work rate & endurance. Still almost KOed Douglas, & there was a bit of a long count. HOW could Douglas-on his best day ever-be seen to have had the stuff to always beat Tyson? That is a trip to Crazytown. :silly

The answer to the thread question is easy. he lacked discipline, energy, & movitation.

Doesn't take a genius to work out Tyson wasn't himself that night.

To busy partying, didn't train, wasn't in shape... he took crash diet pills not long before the fight to drop something daft like 25 pounds.

Nothing to do with shape. Watch the fight. Douglas had Tyson buy fients.

Tyson stopped moving his head because he was paying a price moving it. Douglas had him buying feints all damn night.

He moved it to the left he got hit with a right hand. Moved it right he got a left hook in return. His answer was to not move his head.

Watch the first round. Tyson moved his head!! He started getting hit so he stopped it.
I think Tyson had abandoned head movement altogether later but he later went back to it early in fights.

For Douglas Tyson was still into head movement. He'd been programmed to do it but some how Douglas was able to time his movement by getting him to react to a feint. There was a lack of imagination on TYsons part, he had been so successful until then that he was at a loss what to do when something did not work. He kept getting caught and could not work out why.

Later Lewis coppied this. Once Tyson was tired he would move his head side to side before a punch came. Like a clock work toy. Only His feet did not follow with the head movement. Lewis would pull the trigger to catch TYsons head on the way back in much the way Foreman timed Fraziers head to come up after it went down.

Was Tyson at his absolute best that night or even a fraction of his best that night? Nope

Was Douglas at his absolute best that night? You bet

Is some one who is at his absolute best versus someone not being a fraction or 1% at his best, capable of beating the person not at this absolute best? A strong possibility.

Would Tyson ever put in a poor performance against that Douglas if he had trained hard, professionally, done his homework on Douglas and fought to the best of his abilities? Not a chance.

These are all facts. Tyson has only himself to blame for putting in a poor performance that night. Douglas only won the title once and got famous for a brief period of time and already lacked motivation to defend his title properly against Holyfield whereas Tyson atleast held on to the belt for 3 and a half years before letting the fame, adulation getting the better of his profession.

Not easy to deal with the fame, adulation, money, babes, leeches and the world constantly wanting a piece of you, your the man e.t.c. If we were in Tyson's shoes we probably would have been doing the same i.e. partying 24/7.
