Scott Harrison vs Ricky Burns ?

Ronnie held his own. Ricky is class in sparring I think that's one thing everyone will say. He doesn't like southpaws really struggles in fights. Only sparring that I saw both Ricky and Ronnie were excellent to watch. I wouldn't say anyone got the better of each other.

 

One sided defeat to Walsh, your off your head if you think that. Either that or you never watched fight

 

why don't you ask Ronnie he will tell you the truth,Ronnies a good fighter at his level but the truth is Ricky felt he never got anything out the spar coz it wasn't competitive enough hence the reason that was Ronnies last spar.
Don't get me wrong if help Ronnie no bother with sparring if and when I can

 

Haha I must of missed these easy spars or Ronnie must on had been having good days when I was there but was deffo competitive.. You keep saying Ronnie's level I know where he's at fringe British level. I wasn't there for all the Sparring so Billy may well be right but at the time I was told a different story. Either way it's irrelevant. I've seen fighters Ronnie would get out in a couple of rounds give him good hard sparring. Sparring is sparring has nothing when it comes to a fight.. Ronnie is working hard to be the best he can be with a couple of lucky breaks like Ricky got I think Ronnie can go very far. Time will tell how far. But saying easy sparring is wrong it wasn't and if Ricky had Sparred Ronnie in the run up to the Zlaticanin fight he may have been more used to fighting a similar styled fighter

Billy David made a good point if Ricky struggles with southpaws why doesn't he spar with them more often? I mean you constantly hear Ricky sparring the likes of Kevin Mitchell a guy he would beat every day of the week, so how's he going to improve?

 

Well he does now have Luke Campbell at his disposal with Sims but I do agree.

 

ricky only sparred Kevin twice before he beat him and one week before Crawford so hardly going in with the same guy is it?
I'd only have a fighter I train spar southpaws if we were fighting one, that's the way I was taught and that as a rule has generally worked
I even see coaches stand orthodox on the pads when the fighters lined up to box a southpaw unreal

 

im not saying Ronnie never done ok but NEVER at anytime did he EVER get the better of any of the sparring.
And for anyone to say differently is wrong, the hardest Ronnie hit Ricky was with his leg when they clashed in the middle of the ring hurting Ricky's shin, Ricky was in boys and Ronnie just looked at him lol

 

I'm sure you agree that's subjective.. I honestly don't see it as either getting the better of each other. All I have ever said is Ronnie held his own. You don't score sparring you use it to work out game plans for upcoming opponents or that is what should be done. I think Tony should of got Ronnie to spar Ricky for his last fight he is quite similar to Zlaticanin. I think it would of prepared Ricky better.. He had figured him out after 8 rounds but was too late.. Campbell is a good southpaw but not really as awkward as some and is more tall and good at range

 

I'm only going on what I've been told Billy. My brother heard it from an old boy at Paisley show. I've heard some good things about Ronnie like he's avoided and none of the Scottish boys want to fight him. I've only seen him once where he stopped the guy in the 1st round and I hear he was good in his last fight as well.

 

ryan I can't speak for other fighters but when I was with Ricky the sparring was generally one sided which you could expect

 

There is similarities with Ronnie and zlaticanin however he's very much stronger than Ronnie and clearly punches much much harder going by his record and Ricky's fight

 

I think he hit harder with his left hand than Ronnie does but had nothing in his right. Ronnie can bang with both. Looking at his record it would look like he hits harder but in fairness Ronnie has fought fighters who just don't get stopped by anyone.. Before Burns Zlaticanin had fought no one of note. Like I said it's subjective..

 

david in fairness Ronnie hasn't, yet zlaticanin beat Ricky, Ronnie couldn't even you'd admit that?
