I think he will surpass Bernard Hopkins middleweight reign handily.

Ouma was a LMW CHAMPION, not titlist.

Macklin should have been a titlist.

Ishiida was also a LMW titlist.

And he also beat the who's who of regional titlists from across the globe.

Keep in mind.....these are guys WILLING to fight him. Most are contenders, fringe contenders and regional clubbies, but several have been world titlists and many have challenged for World titles on several occasions.

    Like another poster said.....

It's not like Cotto is gonna be calling him out if he beats Geale. Hell, I don't think Cotto would risk it if he was stopped by Geale.:D

Yes Cotto is the main man in the Middleweight division for beating the main man. Wasn't he a huge underdog and overlooked by almost everyone following the sport?. Now that he proved otherwise his win and championship doesn't count?, fu.ck off with that.

:deal IMO, the man who beat the man is the face of the division in any non-unified division. Having a belt does make you one of the division's elite, but there's so many titles around nowadays basically all you have to do to is stay undefeated for a while in your division and you'll realize you're some organisation's Super Emeritus Diamond Hyper Platinum Champion. :huh

I knew about Ouma but he wasn't a title holder at 160 lbs, wouldn't count Ishiida as it was only an interm title rather than a legit title he held.

Macklin did deserve to beat Sturm in most peoples opinion though.

Martinez is completely shot, Cotto better face the top contenders at MW as well as other titlists at MW or **** off... Yeah he may be the man to beat, but just about any decent MW can get the job done... Cotto knows this and will most likely partake in freakshow fights as a result. Maybe a cashout fight with Canelo or Mayweather....

Cotto hasn't even fought at 160lbs, some champ.

He fought a guy who lost to Martin Murray in his backyard.

There have been plenty of fighters winning the lineal title at a weight they've never fought in.

Just last year, Stevenson moved up to LHW and beat Dawson for the lineal title.

Yeah at 175lbs. Cotto had a catchweight win over an old guy who already received a gift, and somehow he's the best or the "champ" in the division.

    Nah.

Losing to Salido and beating Gary TBA Jr constitutes a better resume?

    Nah.
