Roy wouldn't make this fight it would never happen. Jones would be too reluctant to take the risk. His history proves this.

    Haye, no doubt.
Haye was just as fast if not faster at the higher weights, hit harder, could take what Roy had and give back more which I dont think Roy would be able to take.

Haye with an early KO win

If you watch that fight, Haye didnt go for the stoppage as he was looking for 12 rounds. Haye was a massive CW puncher with speed and skills

Any fighter would find Roy's speed a problem.

    It's ignorant to think otherwise.

This would have been an incredibly difficult fight for Roy, but it all depends on the mindset of each fighter in my opinion.

Roy would have had to have earnt Haye's respect very early.

If Roy could have imposed himself early, and landed with something big, it would have made Haye reluctant in my opinion.

Haye had a lot of tools, but he's mentally weak. Unless he'd have thought he could have just walked straight through Roy, then it would have been a hard nights work for him.

Roy had better footwork, better reflexes, a better defence, and had faster hand speed, with more variation.

I can certainly envisage Haye catching him and knocking him out, but I can also see Roy frustrating him, and it going the distance.

I could see Haye winning, but definitely not early.

I don't think Haye was faster, and Roy threw combinations, whereas Haye never has to a large extent.

We know that there's no way Roy could have taken a flush shot from Haye, but we don't know if Haye could have taken a flush shot from a 200 pound version of Roy.

    Prime Roy?

Prime Roy was Super Middle/Light Heavy and Haye was a big cruiserweight with speed and power. I love Roy but he's not a cruiserweight

Let's be honest though Roy's last flashes of brilliance was Lacy at Light Heavy he's going to get nailed by Haye this is like asking who would win Trinidad v Hagler at middleweight it's a no brainer!

in that case what can you see. he got in the ring with a bigger guy than haye. => null opinion.

though I agree that the edge is with haye, I cant give anything less than a fair chance to someone as accurate, explosive and fast as jones jnr despite the massive physical discrepancy.

Do you base Haye being mentally weak on the Thompson and Wlad fights?

I'm not getting at you here I'm just curious as I don't see Haye as mentally weak

How would Roy have done at CW?

What if he fought Jirov and Juan Carlos Gomez?

he would have struggled but have beaten these guys.

yet I don't think he could keep on pulling off the same trick each fight. with each successive CW opponent, the chances of him getting bowled out by the lucky punch get larger and larger (as it would have been if he'd remained at HW).

    No, no, no.

He wasn't as good as you say. 40 y.o. shot Carl Thompson knocked him out as early as in 5th round.

Featherfisted middleweight Lolenga Mock knocked Haye down and had him hurt.

Past-prime Mormeck, who was already knocked out COLD by O'Neil Bell, knocked Haye down hard.

Fraggomeni, 40 y.o. with no power, gave him tough fight.

Stop pretending that Haye is the second comiong of Holyfield or cruiserweight version of Mike Tyson.

He never fought the best CW's at that time - Bell, Adamek, Cunningham. His resume is thin at cruiser and extra-thin at HW.

I think it was due to inexperience when he lost to Thompson.

But yes, the Wlad fight and his ridiculous excuse tell me that he's mentally weak.

I've also watched his body language and seen how he's carried himself in many interviews etc.

He has a lot of respect for Roy and he tried to copy his style.

I think if Roy had gained his respect early with his speed and his power, it wouldn't have been the easy night that most people have predicted.

It takes a special fighter to go for a knockout against a guy with equal or greater speed who can also hit hard.

He never even attempted a single body shot against Wlad and seemed overawed by the occasion.

I just can't envisage him blasting Roy out early.

Haye would brutalize him. Probably knock him out within 6 rounds. Total mismatch.
