No doubt to anyone who understands boxing that Lara swept the fight 8-4. He made Canelo appear flat footed with little to no ring generalship. Canelo was at a complete lost in cutting off the ring and missed more punches than he landed. Thank God he is a major GBP fighter and the promoter's fighter won that night.
Canelo won the fight, no doubt. All of Lara's early work was negated when he visibly slowed and then started backpedaling after absorbing so many power shots to the body. Canelo stalked and then cut the ring down so much that Lara looked like a deer caught in the headlamps. The difference was the power shots which Canelo landed accurately and at will. The running from Lara wasn't cute.
Off course canela lost, why do you think DLH said "No rematch no rematch, get back in line!" Oscar knows canela lost. EVERYBODY knows it.
While I 100% agree with the OP, I would say that Lara should have known he would need a better offensive output to win against the money fighter. Kind of like Pernell vs Chavez Jr. He also screwed his marketability too. Had he let his hands go after the 9th he'd be in a better position. And before you guys go full ******, no I am not suggesting Lara is on Pernells level so put the d*ck back in your mouth. People say Lara was only jabbing...well look at Canelos face after the fight. Looks like they stung to me.
The judges scoring was fairly predictable if you have followed Canelo's career. In all his big fights it seems either the scoring approach favors him, or the at least one judge is in his pocket. A draw against Mayweather???? 117-111 against Lara???? Bull****. You will have to stop this guy...or be a bigger star to get a win, it seems. I like Canelo as a fighter. And I picked him to win this fight. But, in my eyes he lost this fight. I could not find more than 4 clear rounds to give to Canelo. The rest, I felt Lara's gameplan was the one that was most effective. Canelo's bodyshots were his best weapon. But, that was really all that was working for him. He could not land anything else. And he could not avoid getting hit. He couldn't cut off the ring, either. Instead he was led around the ring and into traps. Lara kept too much distance between them at times. He wasn't as aggressive as he should have been, to eliminate all doubt. But, there was nothing to stop him from landing exactly what he wanted, when he wanted, and get away unscathed, for the most part.
The only kind of people who debate a fact are idiots, and butthurt idiots. Canelo OFFICIALLY won the fight, Lara OFFICIALLY lost the fight. Again, there's no need to debate FACTS. Canelo SD12 Lara, your boy lost, stop crying and move on.

Exactly, it's those kind of things that tells them how much effect his body work is having. They now knew Canelo body shots were winning over Lara's headshots.
If you're gonna use the robbery argument, at least use something like Pacquiao/Bradley or Lewis/Holyfield. Argue all you want, Canelo's record says W SD12 Lara, and Lara's record says L SD12 Canelo. No matter how butthurt you are or how many threads like these are made, you won't change facts. Again, Canelo SD12 Lara, deal with it and move on. :-(
