What if Tua landed a huge left hook to Lewis's chin, knocking him out? How would things have been different?
I think Lewis would have won the rematch, and while it would have dented his legacy a bit, he'd still be an Atg. Tua would be wise to get one defence in before the rematch though. it would have been a bigger deal for tua. Because now his career is looked at as unfulfilled potential and a disappointment.
Never mind won, had Tua fought more competitively and had moments of success it would enhance his legacy greatly. He gave such a flat performance and was so soundly outboxed it really damaged him in many fans eyes.
Tua showed no Hand speed, no body shots and no combinations. You can't beat Lewis like that just depending on one lucky punch.
And yes so one dimensional with that left hook. If all you have is one weapon, the really good boxers will plan for it. Apparently they say he had a rib injury in this fight but even if he was 100% fit he didn't have the tools to challenge Lewis.
Good boxers who were smart not to go to war with him made him look like garbage. I thought he looked even worse against Chris Byrd.
This. Plus the fact he was borderline obese against Lewis, the biggest night of his life and he come in in perhaps the worst shape of his career.
Tua, Corrie Sanders, and of course Mike Tyson are the most over-rated guys on this forum.. Tua, maybe 5-9 in street shoes was too short to be a heavyweight, had no jab, lacked footwork, and mobility, often looked a little fat and thick around the middle, and was extremely predictable... Against Lewis it looked like he gave up after the 6th round, as long as you didn't stand in front of the guy, and could box you would give him problems, Chris Byrd schooled him like an amateur...
