Looking at the sort that has been able to hurt Fury, either Briggs or Thompson could spark him out.

If either one does manage to buzz him, it won't be as though he can regain control by simply bullying either of them with raw bulk like he did in the past with outsized foes. (none of whom pack as much wallop as Briggs or Thompson in the first place)

Beating either of them would bring Fury very little credit on this little notice, however. Name value, sure - but they're both very old and come on...four days is four days.

Valuev was already considered the WBA titlist before any of this, starting in 2008 vs. Ruiz. Chagaev was WBA champion in recess during that time.

I never heard or read anywhere that Haye was ever in contention to fight Chagaev. I dont think I've ever even heard Haye mention his name. Let alone the fact that the fight didn't get made because Chagaev couldn't fight in the UK. While he did get stripped, it's was because he couldn't get licensed to rematch Valuev in Finland. Im sure had Haye attempted to make a fight vs Chagaev, Haye would have accepted fighting Chagaev in Germany or somewhere else it could have been made. Just like he went to Germany to fight Valuev.

Your also saying Haye only pulled out of the Wladimir fight after Chagaev said he'd fight Klitschko.. Chagaev wouldn't have been able to say he'd fight Klitschko if Haye wasn't already out of the fight himself with a fake injury.

While Wladimir had the option to wait for Haye to heal, he chose to take the Chagaev fight, not believing Haye's supposed time line for recovery or the honesty of his injury. And given Haye's recent history it looks like it was the right move. And Wlad still eventually got the Haye fight, at it's peek.

Either way this is way of track of the original post subject.

The worst pull out was Danny Williams before the Skelton fight. I'm sure he weighed in ok and was checked by a doctor (and declared fit) and then pulled out on the Friday night, less than 24 hours before the bout. Reason: flu.

    Shiit, my bad.

It's been 5 yrs and the Chagaev Hepatitus SAGA gets me all mixed up.

Chaggy was supposed to fight Iggy in a unification fight, but had to pull the plug when he first showed up with Hepatitus.

So the WBA MADE Valuev Champion and made Chaggy emeritus.

So when Chagaev got cleared to fight by the WBA, he was supposed to defend his title vs fellow WBA titlist Valuev. But it was FINLAND who first refused him the fight.
He pulled out and took Hayes place in the Klitschko fight. It was when he fought Wladimir that they stripped him and made Valuev full titlist.

Haye then signed to fight Valuev that winter.

It was in 2011 that Haye refused to fight his mandatory, Chagaev b/c he wouldnt get in the ring with someone who had Hepatitus, and the UK wouldnt allow Chaggy to fight.:think

It will be interesting to see if England will allow Briggs to enter the country after months ago they denied mayweather.

Tyson Fury is sorta like the new young version of a Klitschko that is gonna take over the Heavyweight division after the Klitschko era. Even Emmanuel Steward was saying that.

Probably not. They allowed him to walk all over Germany with a pie.
If anyone shouldn't be allowed to have a fruit & cream pie, it's Shannon Briggs at a Klitscho news conference.

I'd say there's not one prospect Emmanuel steward has ever seen that he didn't call a future world champion
