He would have soon lost anyways. The weak era of the late 80s was ending and The 90s were beginning. The top fighters of the era in Holyfield, Bowe and Lewis were on the horizon and at least one of those guys would've handed Mike an L.

It does appear that Mike Tyson needed a trainer who would make him toe the mark. After parting with Kevin Rooney, Tyson seemed to have trainers who were virtual "yes men." One wonders what would have happened if Jim Jacobs didn't pass away.

Tyson had become a legend, made back with close to $100 m by the age of 23, it was impossible for him to maintain the same humbleness, focus, passion forever, certainly not with the entire world telling him he was the man.

Even now I believe his recent new found humility and change has a lot to do with his bankruptcy and no longer being the boxing super star.

And yes his boxing style was unsustainable in the long run, he would have naturally lost his speed, reflexes, foot speed.

Rooney never would've let Tyson off the hook in training camp. Yes it was difficult to keep Tyson focused and away from bad company. He might still go off the rails somewhere down the line but not in the way that sent him to prison. And who knows how long he sticks with Rooney. But if he did stick with Rooney it's a far more difficult task to take the title away from him.

I think a rematch with one of the bigger guys, Riddick Bowe for instance, while Bowe just reached his peak would give Mike his first loss.

During Tyson's title reign it was common for him to disappear for days at a time during training camp even with Rooney as trainer. So it's difficult to imagine him staying undefeated for too much longer.

Shut up with your stupidity.! What about Holyfield 10 losses in pro?
1.Holyfield has a crap heavyweight record.Holyfield never was faster than Tyson.
2.Holyfield wasn't more skilled fighter than Tyson.
Savarese destroyed douglas in the first round. And a very bad Tyson destroyed Savarese
in the first.Savarese was taller, stronger, heavier fighter than Douglas.

If Tyson had kept going for as long as Holyfield he'd have had 20 losses!

    1. That crap record as two wins over Tyson.
    2. Holyfield was definitely more skilled than Tyson.
Douglas destroyed Tyson and Holyfield destroyed Douglas.
Douglas and Holyfield were the better fighters than Tyson.

-BOWE? The mediocre Golota humilated Bowe two times
-LEWIS? Mccall destroyed Lewis easily(Douglas beat Mccall otherwise.)
Mccall never was a good puncher.the prime Mccall couldn't knock the 45 years old
Holmes outTthe Holmes-Mccall was a close fight:
-Holyfield? Haha!!The fat featherfisted Toney destroyed him
    FOREMANJOB! I think you're an idiota.(Enough said !)

    Another what if scenario:nut

Tyson would have found a way to self destruct it's his nature, he even admitted as much in his book..

He still would have been waxed by Douglas, James was too focused that night to lose.
He still would have went to prison..
He still would have had his ass kicked 2x by Holyfield, Evander was just mentally and physically superior to Tyson..
He still would have lost all of his millions..
He still would have been heavy into street drugs..
He still would have went back to prison again
He still would have been beaten to a pulp by Lennox.

The guy was a TRAIN WRECK , looking for a place to happen..
