I think it's even a poor choice in terms of what Pac has to gain from it. There's no real victory to be had in this fight.

Given Algieri's height, reach and style, he'll be a tough opponent for Pac (although I still expect him to win). But given his relatively small reputation, there's no real victory in Pac winning. The minimum any casual fan watching expects is a Pac KO.

I think they must have had it lined up as Ruslan to fight Pac if/when he beatt Algieri.

 

If surviving two knockdowns by a beast like Provodnikov, picking yourself up and pulling an upset isn't a great win, I'm not sure what is.

 

Madaina, like Algeri earned the fight.

I didnt give Madaina the win, and I dont think he won 5 rds to merit a rematch, but many believe he did, and some even scored it for Chino.

That said......

Algeri should really have one more fight before he gets a megafight like this.....if he fought Vargas and unified, then I would easily say he's #2 at LWW, and worth sacrificing to Pac....

But I think he'll end up losing to Pac, then moving up and fighting Bradley or going back down and taking the title from Vargas.

He'll be a mainstay if he chooses to continue fighting rather than going back to school.

We'll see......but hopefully he considers that college is not going nowhere, and he could still earn his degree while continuing his professional boxing career. :think
