I have to agree with this...

When someone uses the term "sparked out" in boxing, I always take it as someone took a nap. Or at the very least were out on their feet, and woke back up and made a horrible attempt at getting off the canvas.

If you're talking about the Atoev KO in the Ams - yeah, perfect counter coming in. It's exactly the kind of shot that Kovalev could be vulnerable to now - he's a deal more experienced now, and has modified his style somewhat but that counter coming in is exactly the reason I actually gave Stevenson an OK chance against Kovalev

Nonetheless, I still favour Kovalev by KO, and if you watch Stevenson - Fonfara you should too - the combinations which trouble Stevnson in the late rounds are Kovalevs bread and butter.

Now - if we've dealt with that, why are you bringing Kovalev into a Ward vs Golovkin thread (unless you think that Golovkin .... or.. Son of God forbid, Ward should fight Krusher)?

EDIT - Oh, and BTW the criteria for stopping a fight is/was far tighter under amateur rules... in the clip I've seen it looks to me like Kovalev may have been getting ready to roll to his feet. There's certainly no way of knowing whether he the fight would have been waved off in a pro bout.

"P4P" is just a popularity contest amongst some journos and means exactly nothing.

Past earnings also mean nothing, because since the viewership favors Golovkin and HBO is the entity that underwrote Wards previous payday (it was not his laughable live gate thats for sure) if HBO is not willing to put up enough money for the fight, and if they were they put Golovkin in the drivers seat - then guess who is the A-side? Not Ward.

For the fight to be made, especially if HBO doesnt want it that means that Golovkin has to carry most of the fight. Ward adds nothing to the promotion other than being an extremely credible opponent. Which is what a good B-side does. Adds credibility to the card, so the A-sides fans want to watch/buy.

Which is why Ward is suddenly trying to talk his way into a Golovkin fight with such desperation.

To break it down - Ward will, after the TV ratings + backlash + legal antics absolutely not get the kind of money from HBO to fight any old body that he got previously.

Chavez JR is in issues with TR, and even if he wasnt he wants Froch or Golovkin (the money around his weight on HBO side of tinhgs)

Froch has basically said he could care lessa bout Ward rematch, and Hearn flat out told him to go fly a kite - because he brings no money.

Goossen has sent him offers, which hes aid were too low. (Bika, etc)

So... since Ward demands a certain amount to fight, his options are limited. Either beg on hands and knees for a fight with Golovkin like he has been doing, because he is the only guy 160-168 with the financial capability to make the fight who at least might be interested.

    Or...

Face the Krusher at 175, which HBO would actually pay for and KOvalev would low-ball his own purse for the opportunity at a name. And hope that when he clinched, KOvalev didnt just shrug him off, push him into the ropes and end his career at the elite level with an extremely brutal beating which is almost certainly what would happen.

It does to your confused ass.

Sure you know better than everyone else and the oxford dictionary right?

The clue is in the word. Sparked out, as in no spark left, as in unconscious.

That's completely false and you KNOW IT.

Spark out doesn't always mean unconscious, thanks!

what a strange little attention seeker, arguing with the oed. so to clarify, you can be floored without being spark out?

    No... it really doesn't.

Getting sparked out could easily just mean you got the complete senses knocked out of you, a horrible KO!!!

    Doesn't have to mean unconscious..

Keep repeating yourself. If you say it enough times it must be true.

You'd better get on to the oed with that correction then.
