GYM/Interbox have offered to have Artur Beterbiev replace Jeanne Pascal against Tavoris Cloud. They are awaiting an answer from Cloud camp.
Hella yes props to Beterbiev:good But I don't think Cloud will want any part. If he thinks he took a lick from Stevenson
Very risky matchmaking if the fight happens but respect for Beterbiev for wanting such a challenging fight so early in his pro career I think he needs more experience before taking on a world level contender
I'd be a bit surprised if this fight happens but I'd like to see it. Credit to both if this does happen. Huge step up for someone like Beterbiev, who's best win so far is probably a shot Rayco Saunders. Even a Cloud who looks to be on the slide is a dangerous fighter especially for someone with a handful of fights. Cloud would be taking a fight against a 4-5 fight guy with little to no reward outside of whatever he gets financially. Cloud would gain a lot more, win or lose, from facing guys like Kovalev, Dawson, Bute, etc. Cloud still has name value and hasn't looked good in his last several fights. I'd think some of the more established guys would see him as a high reward/ low risk scenario.
Pascal won't fight Cloud (it's official now), so the Beterbiev/Cloud will most likely take place. Beterbiev, his promoter (GYM), Don King want it. They are waiting for Cloud answer now.
Beterbiev beat pretty much everyone in the amateur ranks. But this is the pros. So who knows. The main concern could be stamina since he's never pass 4 rounds.
