He probably has the more versatile jab, but there's no arguing that Gennady's lands harder, which will be very important to make Ward cautious. There's more tangibles to this fight than you think. GGG is more than just a puncher. But if you believe he isn't, so be it.

 

I know, Rodriguez is a pretty good fighter too.

I can see where HBO would'nt want to match GGG with Ward.

Ward is'nt eye candy to the casual fan. Ward is like Hopkins, knowing the craft and because of their safety first approach, use more disruptive tactics than they do boxing technique punching.

For as good as Hopkins has been over the years, his boxing like Ward's is'nt pure, so most people who pay to watch a fight rather not go out of there way to do so when they're in action.

Ward would disrupt everything GGG does well, the problem would be that with Ward doing so, he himself would not land alot of clean, hard, effective punches on GGG.
The makings of a dull fight HBO would rather not stage.

Ward is consistent about his punching. He doesn't bring a crazy workrate to the table, but he certainly punches more than your statement up here gives him credit for. He's not eye candy because there is very little flash to his game and he lacks power, not because his fighting is unpure. He's very good at everything, but he's not a puncher at all, and his defense is so good that he rarely gets hit himself. So he makes his opponent look bad in a non-flashy way, and he scores consistently but has little chance of generating a knockout against a top level guy.

I'm fairly confident he would have no trouble at all landing clean on GGG.

 

No **** they're hesitant. They've dumped a lot of money and effort into trying to make Golovkin a superstar. Why sacrifice him to Ward now before they've even gotten a PPV out of him? Besides, Golovkin doesn't want to fight Andre. He said so himself.

Ward doesn't deserve Golovkin. Ward is too inactive and is still riding on his super six victory which was 3 YEARS AGO. If you're a boring fighter at least stay active, but when you're boring and you add inactivity to that it's just like "ughhhh".

 

ward is calling out golovkin because hes gained notoriety through US network exposure. and because he's smaller

kovalev needs to hit the states too if he wants the attention of genuine world champions

 

21 of Kovalev's 24 fights have been in the U.S.
His 3 fights outside of the U.S. have been in Russia, Wales, and Canada.
His last 7 fights have been on T.V. in the U.S, either NBC/NBCSports and HBO. His fight next week is in New Jersey and on HBO.

It's ridiculous that Showtime had no interest in picking up Hopkins v Kovalev but couldn't put Hopkins v Murat on their network fast enough.
That was Murat's first fight in the U.S. or on U.S. T.V.:verysad
