Fury v Alexander Ustinov

Well done to Mr F Promoter for saving the bill but Is Ustinov worthy of the hype here? personal opinion I think he fell apart against Pulev being jabbed into submission and his style is pure kick boxer, short bursts of running at opponents swinging haymakers and long periods of being jabbed to f**k when he took a step up in class,being 8 foot tall and 300 lb dont make you a decent boxer. One of a long line of freakishly big east europeans who thought they were the next Klitschko Mr Chisora was a far better opponent

Yeah, if Ustinov can't bang Fury out quick it will get to be a rough night for him.

 

yeh but fury aint as disciplined as pulev or as tough. if he clocks fury he could have him out of there.

 

Fair point,I guess Chisora team chose Ustinov for sparring for height and size but
Fury moves quite well with a good jab (when he can be bothered) but he has those lapses when anyone can catch him clean which makes Fury fighting anyone worth a watch

 

Who has Ustinov stopped of any note though? He's only ever stopped journeymen. He couldn't stop Sprott, Barrett etc so I can't see him stopping Fury. His last stoppage was in 2012 agaisnt Jason Gavern, and that took him 7 rounds... He's good but not exactly a killer like some people are making out

 

Ustinov is slow, lacks skills and stamina.

 

So it is a pick'em!

 

Not for him it won't lol, he'll be thinking beat Tyson & might get Haye etc, he'll be motivated, don't see him winning though

Very dangerous fight for Fury and one that he could easily lose.

Ustinov looks in very good shape, perhaps the best of his career and has also been sparring so will be sharp and ready for the fight.

I've seen Ustinov fight a number of times and have always been surprised how good his footwork is for a 300lb 6ft 8in Heavyweight although he can come across as a poor mans Klitschko in his boxing style which is probably closer to Vitali then Wlad. He has above average power and speed but has lacked stamina and output in the past, from the looks of him at the press conference he could well have lost 20 or 30lbs which will definately help him.

The last time Ustinov faced a boxer bigger then him he sparked him out inside 1 rd, people forget that boxers punching down can be at a huge disadvantage especially against more agile opponents so i'm sure he'll feel a lot more comfortable facing someone the same kind of height as him.

The biggest factor in the fight for me is that Fury always uses his height and weight to lean on his opponents and drain them of stamina, if he tries doing that to Ustinov he'll be in a world of trouble.

This is a pick em fight for me, probably 60-40 in Fury's favour but i'm going to go for:

USTINOV by KO inside 4.

The reason i'm going for Ustinov is the best style to beat him is a more orthodox stance that counter punchers off his rather looping punches, something that Pulev did brilliantly and Fury just doesn't have the style to carry out.

 

I'm assuming as Wank Farren paid Fury for the second fight that never happened, this is the third and final fight of their deal. Therefore he'd be quite happy for Fury to lose and save face and money on rearranging the Chisora fight, saying he's now damaged goods.

 

Both of Fury's fights with Haye were shortened to zero rounds. :yep

Not sure if Ustinov will be in tip-top shape -- there's a difference from being the guy training in a training camp vs. being the sparring partner -- but that's on him ... I'm not one to usually give Fury a lot of props but I'll tip my cap to him for taking on this challenge with a short-notice opponent switch. Ustinov is, at worst, a live underdog and the Fury camp should be commended for going on with the show.

Right now everything is an unknown -- if Ustinov turns out to not be ready and goes easy, I still credit Fury for taking the risk; if Ustinov brings it and wins, I'll not mock Fury because I respect him and his team for making this decision.

I'm remembering martin rogan going nuts after his fight with tyson fury as it was changed from 10 to 12 rounds late on.
even though he was beat in the 5th.

 

Strong rumour is even the judges didn't know the 10th round was going to be the last in the Williams - Botha fight. Not that it should affect their scoring. But just a further sign that things were on the nose that night.
