Ward is hiding behind the vail of promotional issues. He has no one left to fight at 168

He is hiding from Kovalev and Stephenson

His last fight occurred while he was in a lawsuit with his promoter (2nd suite). So I don't want to hear it as an excuse for why he isn't fighting. He lost that one and sued again for a third time.

""I’m not a light heavyweight. That’s what it is. I know there’s been a lot of noise about [Sergey] Kovalev. That’s one fight. That’s not even a pay per view fight. That’s a premium network television fight." -Andre Ward

So he is saying the same thing Gennady is saying lol Close this thread already.

Golovkin advising Ward on boxing is like Lucien Bute trying to school Carl Froch how he should throw a punch.

When asked about a potential fight with Andre Ward, Sanchez punched hard: “We are ready to fight Andre Ward, but only if he will understand that Gennady is a bigger star, bigger draw.”

HBO isnt about to give a date to a fighter in a lawsuit. The reasons for this shouldnt need explained. Plus, it would be a very, very expensive fight to put on. They dished out 3m for Ward/ E-Rod and were excoriated for it, then Ward turned around and went inactive with another lawsuit.

Really its a PPV level fight financially. HBO can get equal or better fan draw for far less money, without having to deal with legal issues.

He meant Ward wont fight anyone. Because as has been pointed out ad nauseum noone is putting up enough money. Ward is not trying to talk his way into a GGG fight for sport, hes hoping to get a payday. Ward isnt going to fight for free, he probably wants 3-5m for it. He wont fight anyone for less than 2m.

Golovkin wants 2m to fight at 168, or at least thats what they signed on the dotten line for vs Chavez. So between main event, production and undercard, HBO looking at 5-6mil minimum for GGG-Ward on regular HBO. This has nothing to do with Ward or K2, but HBO can get similar fan appeal for a 2m outlay and not worry about legal issues.

HBO could probably be talked into footing part of the bill, but K2 would have to draw from live gate and foreign just to finish paying Ward. They have no reason to make concessions to get Ward in the ring. If Ward wants the fight, he should get his legal issues settled and get a real promoter.

I have said it before and will say it again, if Ward extricated himself from Goossen and signed with Matchroom or TR expect the fight to be made. A real promoter would give him a couple easy fights to rebuild name, then send a real offer to K2 that made sense for both parties. It will happen, it will just take time.

    True Dat!

Triple G has plenty of wins over the Kesslers and Frochs on his resume.

He's been ultra busy over the last 4 years. Almost as busy as SRR.

Doug Fischer & Dan Rafael both said that Ward is officially on the sidelines, can't sign for a fight. Ward wants to keep his name relevant by saying he's "open", that's all.

Being a draw relates to tv viewers & live gates. Not resumes.

    Solid post.

The other X-factor about Ward's legal situation is this: it definitely affects HBO's willingness to pay a large purse to Ward since there is a very real risk he'll simply move to Showtime pending the result of his lawsuit with Goossen.

As you said, it doesn't matter how open Ward says he is to making fights. It's simply not in HBO's financial or legal interests to underwrite a fight between Andre Ward and anybody right now.

    The fvck is this ****?

Triple Duck hasn't faced ANYONE on the level of Kessler or Froch. Ward's resume shits all over Golovkin's.

    Put down the crack pipe..
