I thought Alekseev was going to be something special. Korobov too actually but i still have hope for him.

Great call. I remember people gushing over him coming up, myself included. He was great to watch.

For myself I'd say Chico corrales. I was stunned when Floyd embarrassed him but worse than that was getting beat up by Castillo twice, despite winning one, and getting owned by clottey and casamayor. He certainly had a good career but I thought he was going to be a legend even after Floyd smoked him.

    Resto en Paz chico

You gotta admit, when he held the WBC, IBF and WBA belts to become the undisputed HW champ at 20 years of age people did expect him to make his mark in the division.

And being the youngest Heavyweight champion in history, a record that is yet to be broken, wasn't a good enough mark?. How about unifying and wiping out everyone worth mentioning in the division for three consecutive years?.

I'm very cynical about virtually eveything and I couldn't think of anybody, I was 8 years old in 88 when Mike started getting big, and I was totally deflated by his loss to Douglas when I was 10.

So from the POV of a kid that was very big deal to see your favorite boxer getting KO'd. At the time it seemed like a hypetrain being derailed.
Calm down I know he is great.

I knew that was going to happen, and made money on Gonzalez KOing him. I didn't like the way Mares was reacting to alot of the shots Moreno was landing on him late in their fight, and that made me suspicious about his chin and I figured he would he would come in buying his own hype after Ponce De Leon and get caught early, and I was right.

Now he is scared shitless and Virgil has ruined him.

You think hell fight jhonny again? I'm baffled by mares, he gets destroyed by jhonny who got whooped by a shot to hell ponce which makes me question how mares allowed himself to get caught.

Hell yeah. One of the reasons I was so ready to watch that Canelo-Lara card was Abner. Always looked forward to watching him fight. Virgil has turned him into a carebear now, and it's hard to watch. He was so exciting.
