    Fight purses for Saturday night.

GGG is getting $750,000 vs Geale $600,000
Bryant Jenning is getting $130,000 Perez is getting $60,000

This is a pretty dam good purse for GGG, because just last year against Macklin he only got $350,000.

Now that's a big jump for GGG, he's being managed and promoted very well.

Geale will be getting more than that, There is PPV from Australia, the fight is getting a fair bit of new coverage out here.

GGG needs 1-2 big US or latino opponents in order to finally reach PPV appeal. Obviously a loss would put him straight back to square zero.

he needs cotto, then he officially inherits the keys to the golden palace
if he does that, you'll potentially see more fighters from other divisions come to him

Mike Perez's manager is listed on Boxrec as Patrick Thomas. That guy should be fired. Perez has fought Magomed, Carlos Takam and now Bryant Jennings, and, after giving a third to his management and then paying his trainers, and paying taxes, he's likely making $10,000 a fight.

    Terrible.

After tonight, he will have fought three top-10 quality guys over the past nine months, and he's making squat. He needs a break NOW from whoever is signing off on these deals for him.

Boxrec has Perez 16th in the world. If he beats Jennings who's rated 13th he'll probably go to top 10 and start getting paid. Personally, I don't feel bad for fighters who don't make a lot of money compared to the major draws. I feel bad for the journeymen slugging it out for 1,500 bucks on ESPN. They need a second job to feed their families. But considering that some teachers only make 40k a year, 60k for a prizefight is alright. If that's not enough for them then they should fight more often. They'd make more money from more fights, rise in the rankings if they continue to win, become a bigger draw and make even more money per fight.

A lot of fighters like Tyson Fury will have these huge layoffs and just run to fat. Old timers would fight once a month and stay in shape. You don't have to wait 3-6 months between fights. That's not a law. The only time you get mandatory away from fighting is for a month or so after you've been knocked out, and that doesn't apply to a lot of these guys.
