Ortiz had such a weird pattern of success. But man did he crash hard when it came time. If you would have told me in 2011, right after the Berto fight that Ortiz would have L's against Josesito and Collazo, I would have laughed.

It' sucks that Berto and Ortiz imploded as bad as they did, but I think that match ruined both of them.

Ortiz was never special to begin with imo. He has power but the way he folded up against maidana told me all I needed to know. Look at his record, the only name guy he beat was berto and we all know what he amounted to. The fight with berto was so spectacular it made him look awesome, but it was the fight that was amazing not him. He was a slightly above average fighter with no heart.

Pavlik and Hatton became lineal champs. I say they're pretty successful. Idk if anybody actually thought they'd become atgs or anything

I never believed in Ortiz that much either but that fight got my hopes up a little that he was starting to take his career more seriously.

That happens alot when 2 guys go all out and create a masterpiece against each other it gets everybody all excited, thinking they are the next big thing, only to crash and burn the moment they step up.

Ward and Gatti are the perfect example they were great against each other but compared to the elite they were just average. As Floyd and Oscar proved with Gatti.

:think Chad Dawson. He did achieve quite a bit and i started following him right before he faced Pascal. I became a fan during the buildup and since then he is 3-3 and 1 NC. But he did beat Hopkins for the Lineal Championship even though he lost it via KO 1.

I also thought that Pascal would be a CW champ by now. I picked Hopkins over him but i did not expect him to look so bad in the rematch.

All that talk about going to HW and nothing to show for it :bart

Ortiz after he KOed Mike Arnautis I thought that he was the truth. I was shocked when he quit against Maidana and deep inside I knew that it was over for him at the very top level. Rios after the Peterson fight I thought that he will develop into a great pressure fighter but unfortunately his technical level only went down after that fight.
