Both prime, who wins Ike or Carlos?

    Excellent matchup, Mcvey!
I am going to pick Williams because from what I have seen he is faster and has more gears to go through. Ortiz was great too, and I don't think there is much in it, I just give the edge to Ike.

I think if Ortiz boxes he can take it. Just has to be really on his game.

I like the way Red put it about being on his game. Ike didn't seem the one punch ko artist like Robinson often was but he could do everything else Ray could and a little better then Ortiz.

IMO Ike had just too much for Carlos to overcome.

This is a match up I've thought about often...I can see Ortiz winning a decision, or Williams winning by stoppage. If Carlos stays in the pocket too long against Williams...I think he would get hit with Williams' left hook.

    Great match-up…

I think Williams is a bit overrated, just a bit. He had some great impressive victories but also a lot of losses and a lot of distance fights against middling opposition. He didn't just go out and KO everyone.

Ortiz only got stopped at the very last moment of his career, though he was inexplicably KD'd a couple times by light hitters like Cruz. Still, even the three or so times he was on the canvas, he always got up and almost always won.

I would say Williams has a chance to deck him but that Ortiz still wins by a couple rounds over 15. I will go with consistency in this one.

This is a matchup where I couldn't honestly argue with an Ortiz backer. I think they are very well schooled and the fight could go either way. Two very solid pros, no doubt!

Yeah exactly! Can't really argue with anyone picking Ortiz...I'll just add two very solid great pros.

No worries...just being picky. I agree with your assessment 100%. Ortiz was fundamentally better than Williams...that could very well take him to a decision. But Williams was so explosive...Two of my favorite fighters!:good
    Cheers man.
