Did anyone else get a weird vibe from the fight tonight? Certainly not saying it was fixed or anything, but it just didn't seem like a real event. The intros felt rushed, and it didn't seem like either guy was ready when the bell rang. Then Geale gets tripped by the camera, and an awkward pause ensues. Geale gets up and the round goes 4 minutes. Geale gets cut during this awkward first round, and cleary lost some composure. He boxes well throughout the first two round and makes it more competitive than any recent GGG fight. Then in the 2nd he gets clipped on the back of the head with a right hook and goes to a knee. Pops right back up and looks good for the rest of the round. Then Geale comes out in the third and is bouncing around with his hands down making Golovkin miss, only to eventually get caught as he landed a punch and dropped a second time. Again he pops right back up, looks pretty in command of his wits, but the ref stops it. I don't know. Just seemed like a really strange fight to me. Like two shy kids peer pressured into fighting after school in the parking lot, but neither one of them want to be there. They just kind of put on show of a fight for a while and then end it as soon as possible. Maybe its just me but ive watched a lot of fights in my day and something about the fight just struck me as weird. Again, i don't think it was fixed by any means. Just wondering if anyone else felt like something was off.
I think that Geale didn't want to be beat up in front of his family to be honest. He looked like a guy who knew what was coming for him and just decided it was better to end it there rather than actually take it. Obviously as fans we want to see a conclusive end but for Geale it was for the best.
Yeah it did feel weird, especially that first round, inexcusable to let it go on for a whole extra minute. Poor geale, doesnt want to even spend three minutes in the ring with the guy and ends up spending four minutes with the monster. Geale looked nervous af though, he knew he was getting ktfo.
The 4 minute round 1 was fishy. I think Geale told the referee he could not continue at the end and I believe him, his legs didn't seem to be there the way they should have.
i rem it happened in a heavyweight fight howard cosell was calling but i don't remember who it was. maybe foreman vs someone. ya, Geale shook his head he didn't want any more abuse.
the guy in charged of the time and ringing the bell along w the stupid camera guy should be banned from boxing, then the second round w the illegal knockdown, top that off with geale landing good clean shots, and doing a decent job w his movement and landing possibly the best punch of the fight and then getting knocked out by the counter. definitely a weird fight.
