In fact i think more of the older, past prime, former elites should do this.

They spent their whole careers building a name; why not capitalise on it.

I look at it as a pension scheme.

Yesterday Roy defeated Courtney Fry via TKO5.

    Congrats Roy.

Johnny Tapia did it but he was also looking for that one big money fight, Roy is probably the same way.

Jones has had only 3 fights in the past 3 years or so, nothing wrong with him getting some wins under his belt.

Btw this is the longest win streak for Jones since he got KOd by Tarver.

    RJJ is a bum too!

If he needs that money so desperately, he can come to CW and I pay him 5k .. but not sure, if he wants to box after that again hehe.

Agreed, he should just focus on defending his IBU "world" title, and performing some half assed rapsong afterwards, steering far clear from the real top fighters in the division.

I've always been for some kind of veteran's tour like they have in tennis. Making some good money fighting oldtimers and hasbeens.

The guy Roy knocked out must have just got out the hospital from having a heart transplant.

Roy looked reasonably good considering his age and ring mileage.

However I'd much rather have heard his insight during the GGG and Jennings matches than to have watched him in the ring yesterday.

He is already at cruiserweight, and 5k is the fee you pay a regular nobody opponent.

  14. Roy has been fighting once a year against guys he knows he can beat and reliving his glory days in places that are very happy to have him perform.

He's 45 or so now. He's not getting hurt. Let him have his fun at this point.

I don't see what the problem is, I've thought about this and he's got his legacy, he was so good that it doesn't matter what he does now, people will remember him in his prime.

I mean he's fighting like once a year, against guys who are decent in their domestic scenes.

What's wrong with that? I mean, depending which source you believe, his net worth seems to be between $20 million to as high as $45 million.

So you've got to assume money is not why he is fighting because he ain't getting **** from these fights.

Let the guy enjoy his hobby.
