GGG has a HORRIBLE DEFENSE! Geale landed 39 Percent of his blows!

The knockout blow was fantastic! Geale landed a right hand flush right as GGG was winding up for his punch. When was the last time you saw a guy get hit like that and in the same motion deliver a knockout blow?

The slow-motion replay of it was one of the better ones I've seen. If you freeze frame it right as Geale landed you would have thought he was scoring a KO instead of getting knocked out.

Geale did land, but to his credit he was creating angles and trying to confuse GGG, Geale just didn't have enough endurance and stamina to keep up. But he went down swinging. GGG's offense is his defense. There are openings as Geale discovered but you have to be willing to take a few of GGG's bombs and stand in there against him round after round and that isn't easy.

 

Watch the replay, specifically from overhead. Use slow-mo and watch how GGG pulls his torso backwards while pushing his knees forward for counter-balance. That shot from Geale was pulled by GGG and because of this and had a lot less power on it due to GGG's extension backwards. Furthermore, it kept GGG in the dominant position with a great angle on the Geale's chin who was exposed in follow through.

Anyway, don't be fooled into thinking Geale hit him flush with full force. GGG took a lot off of that punch. It's great drama, though, because it makes GGG appear to laugh off big shots, but he's doing subtle stuff that most fans don't catch. I've got 23 years of martial arts experience, which is the only reason I may catch things like that. Most people don't watch fighter's knees, feet and hips during fights, but I do on the second viewing of fights.

 

Yeah his defence looked weak, geale was catching him time after time. But i think he didnt bother with his defence cause geales punches didnt hurt him.

His defence will be much better if he fights someone like cotto or froch

Golovkin's defense was excellent vs Geale. I've watched the entire fight (since it was only 3 rounds) on 1/4 speed slow-mo and there are only 6 or 7 shots the entire fight that land decently for Geale and most are in round 1 (some of which were in the extended minute). In round 2 and 3 combined, there are only 2 or 3 shots that land decently for Geale; the punch GGG countered with a KO being the best punch of the fight for Geale, but even that wasn't full force, as I've mentioned a few posts above. Slow-mo through rounds 2 and 3, if you can. You might find it interesting to see how things aren't as they appear in real-time. Compubox does their best, but it's virtually impossible to see everything accurately in real-time, even if you have fight experience and know what you're looking at. It does make it exciting that GGG appears to be walking through shots, but the fact is not much lands cleanly.

 

I think Ward wins against GGG via infighting, but I don't think we have seen enough of GGG to validate you statement. I would be hesitant to agree with it; I'm even tempted to disagree completely, but as I said, the only way we will know for sure is to see GGG's progression.

What I saw in GGG was a guy who had no respect for Geale"s power. He basically walked through anything Geale threw. He'd probably would fight different against a big puncher. The guys had 300 amateur fights. He's probably seen just about every style there is. Remember when Tomasz Adamek was a light heavyweight? He seemed to not worry much about defense. As he moved into heavyweight, he moved a lot and did whatever he could to avoid being hit. He could always do it, but against the heavy's he needed to do it.

 

Ward owns a W over all the other belt holders @ 168. Golovkin, OTOH, spends his time fighting 154lb'ers...
