GGG belongs with alltime MWs! What say ye?

I'm looking forward to seeing how it all works out for him. He does look very good. I think he should stay at middleweight until his body tells him he should move up.

 

I think he is very talented for sure although he seems to be hittable .. U listen to Lampley and Max you'd think he was a combination of Greb and Langford rolled into one. I get they are trying hard to breath light into a faded sport but come on .. I'm a bit surprised to read he's already 32. Having not followed him I'm curious what took him so long. That being said he kind of reminds me of what Dempsey might have become if he continued to fight and mastered his natural skills

 

I got nothing better to do right now....

- He signed with Universum in Germany a couple years before they started to implode (they finally died last year)

- He became Sturm's mandatory around late 2009

- Sturm wanted no part of him and Universum wanted to protect their cash cow

- According to Ahmet Oner, a German/Turkish promoter, Sturm paid the WBA 350K to promote him to Super Champion so he could duck Golovkin indefinitely. Whether or not he bribed them that's what ended up happening

- He tried to leave Universum in 2010 but as was the case with everyone who did so (Erdie, Dzinziruk) they had some fine print b.s. in the contracts that kept all of them tied up in court for 2 years in promotional limbo before they could get a release

- 2010- 2012 he was without a promoter fighting in Panama, Kazakhstan wherever he could

- Sturm kept ducking, N'jikam ducked 3 separate times and ultimately dropped his interm title rather than unify, Mundine turned down a title shot that Golovkin offered to hold in Aus in 2010 when he was still relevant

- Quillin publicly begged for a title shot at MW and then turned down Golovkin's offer prior to him winning the WBO belt or the cold war started.

- Golovkin signed with K2 late 2012

- since then Martinez wanted nothing to do with him, Murray has turned down 2 official offers in Monaco and Canada since he has US visa issues, Geale turned down 3 official offers and dropped a title before finally fighting him now once he had nothing to lose, Quillin is a unspeakable disgrace

Rocky really isn't rated highly by many but he threw one of the best right hands of any middleweight like it was an axe.

 

Hya timmers. There is no fighter I loved seeing more than the pre Tony Zale Rocky Graziano ,BUT much as I loved Rocky, Golovkin would ko him, as GGG was too rangy, too sly, and GGG is an all time MW killer, smile

But Rocky had a right hand grenade, but Gennady is a murderous body puncher and never is he off balance ala my favorite heavyweight Joe Louis...:good

 

Graziano KO'ed Tony Zale. When was the last time any did anything like that today? Graziano was what this sport is all about. Headbanging.

This Gennady guys looks I-ight. He is cleaning out the no-hopers and pretenders. He gets a shot at Cotto, he beats Cotto because Cotto is a older version Golovkin. But, lets get him in with a mover that is confident, can crack, and can take a punch. I would like to see plan B when a solid mover counter puncher will not cooperate and let Gennady get his shots off.

Not sure if you fully realize how right you are. Rocky avoided all legit contenders to get several undeserved title shots against champion Zale. Sadly, there is a lot of that going around boxing in recent years. His fighting style is what the sport is all about, I agree. His career strategy of cherry pick, avoid and advance represents everything that is wrong with the sport. Reminds me of George Foreman and his undeserved ascension and eventual title shot vs. Holyfield.

 

Reminds me of Marvelous Marvin Hagler in that he has long arms but isn't all that tall, hits like a mule and has a granite jaw. I followed William Caveman Lee as he knocked out everybody. For some reason Marvin, like GGG decided to abandon his boxing and let the huge puncher nail him flush. I thought he would go down but just shrugged off the blow and got a TKO. Very much like GGG letting Geale hit him to get close enough to get the finishing blow. Athough to be fair Geale is not the puncher Lee was. GGG seems to have the it factor and should become a superstar especially as his English improves.

 

Well if he can capture all the tittles which what looks like he is tryin to do witht he Soliman fight....he would have a very good argument

 

I've never been one of those "you're not an ATG until you beat a prime ATG" types. I think GGG is on his way to a surefire HOF career assuming he can keep the momentum going for a few more years, maybe unify and establish a good reign.

But in order to be an ATG, he has to do something unprecedented. The KO streak is a good start, but I'm thinking he needs to break or equal a couple of records. If he can unify Middleweight and unify Super Middle or Light Heavy, and look great doing so, I think we can talk about him being an ATG. Or if he can establish a long, dominant reign at middleweight. Or if he wins lineal titles at middle, super middle and light-heavy.

 

Once he starts fighting aggressive fighters GGG will be done.

 

I like GGG but no he has potential but he's nowhere near yet, if he can get the other title holders he can put together a nice resume, if not he will inevitable have to move up if he wants any all time recognition
