Read OP's post. It's Foreman vs Botha in the 90s. As much as I love Foreman, in the 90s he was a B and sometimes C level fighter. If Botha fights the Foreman that took a pounding from Alex Stewart and needed help from the judges to beat Alex Schulz then Botha definitely has the opportunity to win. Botha was a solid HW.

Foreman still had the power to knock botha out who I suspect had a weak chin.

You could have said the same thing about Alex Stewart and Alex Schulz. Foreman still had the power of course but he wasn't a great fighter anymore.

Schulz had good chin to be honest, Stewart - yes.

I think 1990-1991 Foreman beats Botha by KO in 8.

1996-97 Foreman struggles with Botha though. Botha IMO beat Shannon Briggs 98-91 (won all rounds except the one when he was knocked down).

I see a similar scenario to the Foreman/Moorer, Tyson/Botha fights.

Botha ahead on the cards comfortably, but Foreman times him and takes him out.

Remember Botha had a weakness for right hands, Lewis, Tyson, Wladmir, Holyfield, all Ko'd him with straight rights and Foremans right hand is legendary

I don't think that fight needs to mentioned, because he was about 15 years past his best but I agree.
Botha could well find himself in a situation where he's ahead on the cards only to get knocked out late in the fight. It's definitely a toss up, anyone who says that it's easy money for Foreman knows **** all about boxing. Botha win or lose would outwork Foreman over long stretches and win most of the rounds, if it went to a decision Botha would be a clear winner. If there's a knockout, it's Botha on the canvas and not Foreman.

I acknowledge he was past his best, the only reason i bought it up was, it was an overhand right by Evander which ko'd him. (How many people did Holyfield ever 1-punch ko?)

I see Botha getting KTFO when Foreman lands. IF he lands.

If Botha can fight a disciplined fight however, he could pull this off

I don't know. Frans could be tricky at times. I remember when he was a young prospect and taking on another young hopeful named Mike "the bounty" Hunter. Nothing in common with Foreman of course, but I had favored Hunter and Botha surprised me. When he wanted to box and didn't get caught up in brawling, Botha was hard to hit flush and snuck in punches from weird angles. I'd still have to favor Foreman, but an upset isn't impossible.

Seems to be a bit of a pattern emerging with Botha, he does well, is a tricky fighter, but then loses focus and then gets himself knocked out

This is why i see a Foreman/Moorer scenario happening.

I know Botha fought Moorer in '97 and Tyson in '99 and he looked good.

Realistically this fight will have to happen in '97, wasnt this when Foreman genuinely retired?

That was when Foreman had his last and final fight yes. On paper, Foreman should be able to destroy Botha. But there were guys like Schultz, Morrison, Savarese and Stewart who gave him problems during his comeback, and I think Botha fits that category.

Im 50/50 on this, Botha could/should school Foreman, unless he gets caught. And thats not because of Foremans power, its more to do with well.....Botha pretty much always gets caught.....

Kind of an over simplification though. Morrison had a weak chin and had a habit of getting caught too. Botha rarely got caught when prime and if this fight took place around or prior to 1997, prime is exactly what he'd be. Michael Moorer was the only person who "caught" him during this period.. Moorer had greater speed than Foreman and a south paw style, yet he was being grossly out boxed for 12 rounds before an opportunity came. Foreman had the power to knock Botha into next year and very well may have done so. But its not something I'd bank on, especially given the perameters being laid out here.

90-91 foreman would ko him, 95-97 foreman wins a close decision

Same here, one thing we can agree on is Botha will be winning this fight until the end...whether that's the final bell or Botha getting knocked out
