Probably because they compare a nobody like Golovkin to, Olympic Gold medalist, #2 P4P, Super 6 Champion Andre Ward. :yep
i'd rather debate it if you're keen :good sturm's name has only been in the mix because he's held a 'fringe belt' and got rich without ever having fought anyone
Lunch hour on a work day. :conf I can come back tonight, could share my opinion of the Castillejo, Lorenzo, Gevor and Murray fights. I think talking about the Oscar fight would open an entirely different can of worms.
froch's career is made up of fighting anybody and everybody, froch isn't scared to take on anyone, he obviously has respect for golovkin's power due to his comment but he would fight him if the money was right and in my opinion would beat golovkin
if it happens it happens :good no problem I usually post after a run and during a feed, but a hip injury means i'm posting longer when i'm on
Froch would absolutely fight GGG if the money is right - and I think it could be a potential FOTY type match-up. Unfortunately I ain't sure that Golovkin brings the real $s / £s that Carl is looking for in his (probably) last few fights. Certainly I can understand Froch being more interested in Jr first... after that it kinda depends. Kessler III could possibly be a bigger earner, or if he fights DeGale in the UK and it looks close, that could also lead to a big rematch (a la Groves). If Golovkins popularity continues to grow though I see this fight as a possibilty, perhaps late in 2015. He could fight Ward of course (unless his legal battles keep Andre out of the ring), but TBH I don't see it being a bigger earner than a Golovkin fight, whatever it's legacy impact.
Sports injury? About Sturm, for me it's a case of dispatching a lot of good MW contenders in the mid to late 2000's. I hate the word gatekeeper applied to a belt holder, but that's what he really was. His solid piston jab alone posed problems to up and coming guys who thought could overpower him seeing he wasn't the same kind of fighter Abe was... I feel his boxing skills were underrated. On this board, Sylvester is synonym of trash but he was a handful to deal with from about '05 to when Sturm pitched a shut out against him. I scored the Murray fight 115-113 for Sturm, and Murray is a tough customer given his size and defense... still considered somewhat of a name at MW. Against Zbik, who outboxed Chavez Jr for a good portion of their fight until the bully took over on sheer size, Sturm landed combinations that were more than decent. I actually went 'woah wait a sec, why can't he be more confident in himself and step up to do that to the who's who of the division?'. Issue is, Sturm/Universum never ever wanted to take too big a risk and I think they wasted some of his potential... '08 to '12. In my eyes he's more a Could Have Been than a Never Was. :bbb Come to think of it, I only remember Kessler testing Froch to the body. Round 5 of their first fight rings a bell. :think
Golovkin is much smaller than Froch, but would knock him out................Ward is much bigger than Golovkin, but Golovkin would knock him out, but Golovkin's people would refused to fight in Ward's home town, with Ward's personal referee, judges, boxing commission, boxing gloves, ring, everything. Stevens knocked Ward down, Stevenson was knocked out by Stevens, but Golovkin stopped Stevens in the 8th round. STEVENSON WANTS TO KNOW WHERE WARD HAS BEEN HIDING.........................
Froch did say he would duck GGG, it's true. Froch's best ever win is still just about beating a shot version of Kessler by the skin of his teeth to make it 1-1 between them. That version of Kessler is close to a decade past his best. No wonder the media created hype job Froch wants no part of GGG. Imagine if Froch wasn't british, nobody would care about his 'achievements' at all.
