That is true actually. Abraham or Bika would be the easiest way for him to go out with a bang with an instant title grab without needing a tuneup, but Abraham is the better choice because he would simply be kept on the outside like a human punching bag, whereas Bika would get in close and probably mess up Kessler's vision for the rest of his life with butts and other rough stuff. :think
I got what you were saying, and was asking you a follow-up question that basically inverted what you and I were already talking about. You made clear that Froch is the safer fight IYO, and so in a logical progression I asked if you think Froch would also net less credit for the same reasons he is less of a threat for Kessler to lose badly or get hurt. :good Makes sense, the game is about weighing risk and reward. There was no cause to rehash what you were saying, I got it the first time; you gotta be able to adapt to nonlinear thinking.
Love me some Kessler, I wish he would ride off into the sunset after this year or the next. I'm fairly sure that his eyesight is deteriorating year by year. He has a great family, he should just hang it up. I want to see him beat Froch though, then maybe go. One of the most humble men in the sport, how the hell can any man hate this guy? No to GGG at 160, the dude wouldn't make the weight healthily. It would be an awful career choice.
Don't worry. :thumbsup This is a one-shot deal. He is looking for a big-time event plus maybe a tuneup if timing requires it, both ASAP. By this same time next year he will have officially retired...meaning he will be eligible for the IBHOF ballot in either 2020 or 2021. :verysad Yeah. The dude has balls of steel for even restarting his career after Ward, let alone now. :respect He did kinda already swear that when he became a father he would be done. His g/f must be pissed! He must be figuring "no girl can stay too mad for too long @ this face " That is what I'd most like to see, to shut up the idiots who cried robbery in the first one and claim that Froch is the greater man because of that. Tall order, though. :nod ...people do, somehow. :conf Imagine him pulling it off, though? He would ride into the sunset more of a hero than ever.
Nope, what gave you that idea? I just debunk all of the stupid unjustifed GGG overhype threads. :deal
Fair enough... But there are far more threads that slander him, wouldn't you find it more useful to refute outright lies/slander than a few vocal fanboys?
Green (your green; in re: originally white, and now again reverted to it): I just don't think Kessler vs. Chavez offers us a chance to learn anything new about either guy. We already saw Kessler vs. Andrade once years back and it was pretty cool but do we need a shittier version of the same thing again? DeGale, meanwhile, is a slicker and smarter boxer than Chavez (probably an understatement...hell, that ceiling fan was a slicker and smarter boxer than Chavez) and would prove a new puzzle for Kessler at least, and give us as fans a different stylistic configuration to sink our teeth into. DeGale has never faced anyone quite like Kessler, the closest being probably Groves, and likewise Kessler hasn't faced anyone quite like DeGale, the closest being kinda Ward in some ways and kinda Mundine in others. Red: Eek! It's only been 10 days, to be fair. Scantly three quarters a fortnight! Heh heh... Anyway, yeah, in answer: you hit the nail where its little nail brain lives. The person in question IS a walking stick of celery. I don't mean "a walking stick" like the cool insect, either, with the "of celery" being some kind of knightly honorific indicating which of the great Bug Houses to which he swears fealty. I mean a stalk of celery, with no redeeming values like being slathered in peanut butter, animated, roaming about like a dick looking for ways to instill fear and confusion in the other, tastier hors d'oeuvres. It absolutely sucks, but when something has been hard-deleted (as Mr. No Peanut Butter is wont to go around doing) there is no recovery option beyond Google Cache. ...which means those links are kaput. Sorry man. :verysad
Let's hope so. Not sure if he's FIRST BALLOD worthy but he's had a hell of a career and I'm quite certain he'll make it in one of the years after his 1st year of eligibility 2. Yeah man, the dude's a total warrior, well viking in this case. :yep. Many people would have declined after a fight like that. 3. I'm sure his gf will be fine... LOL. Probably not though if he continues on for too long but she'll have to make due until his retirement. :yep. 1 more year then he should really go, he's done enough. He has nothing more ever to prove. 4. Extremely tall order, Froch is an incredibly tricky opponent. Insanely long jab, iron jaw, great pop in his punches. But 2 people can beat him. And those two are Ward/Mikkel. I hope he pulls it off. It would be an insane feat. Doing it after Froch's recent successes, Mikkel's decline... etc etc. 5. They aren't boxing fans, they're either Froch or Ward nuthuggers.... or just Dane haters. :barf 6. It would be a great great win, probably rivalling that of the first Froch win. Maybe even better perhaps because of the circumstances. Froch is definitely a more proven fighter than GGG by miles But doing it LIKE THAT? Going down to 160, declined, beating the uncrowned 160 lineal champion, :nut. That would be nuts.
There would be no reason for him not to be first-ballot unless there were three more deserving nominees in the "modern" category becoming eligible in the same year. (they induct three Modern boxers in every class) So basically you are looking at who is retiring this year & next, depending on whether he gets his big match in 2014 or 2015. If there aren't three names becoming eligible along with him that definitely have to go in ahead of Kessler, then he is first ballot. :good I suppose if the likes of Mayweather, Pacquiao, and W. Klitschko all had their last fights next year and Kessler had to wait until then for a Froch rubber-match while Froch takes on DeGale or Chavez Jr. first, then yeah, it would just be shitty timing and Kessler would need to wait until his 2nd year of eligibility.
I think it's very possible that Manny/Floyd/Hopkins retires next year But yeah I know, very good chance he will be.
You caught me right before my edit. Yeah, there could be three or even more guys that it works out happen to retire in the same calendar year that would all be undeniably ahead of him. Mayweather Pacquiao Hopkins Steelhammer Marquez ...and then you have Mosley, if he gets stupid and decides to climb back in the ring one more time like a selfish ***** only to further **** on his legacy and get smacked around like he did by Choc. :-( Damn, that would suck if they all did hang 'em up in 2015 - because then Kessler would have to wait until his third year of eligibility. (since obviously the 1st-ballot class in 2021 would be Mayweather/Pacquiao/Hopkins or Klit, and then in 2022 you would get the 2nd-ballot tier of Hopkins or Klit/Marquez and Mosley...so poor Kessler would be left in the lurch until 2023 atsch)
There's probably a chance that guys who should've retired a while back like Roy Jones, James Toney, Shane Mosley, Pongsaklek Wongjonkam do. I reckon Froch and Sergio Martinez may have their last fights in 2015. I also think there is a decent chance Cotto retires. I can't see Mayweather (who I think will pursue 50-0) and Pacquiao (money issues) retiring by then, but maybe 2016. Canelo will probably retire before Hopkins :yep
