I don’t think he’s significantly better. My admittedly novice view is that slightly more efficient and effective punching techniques have created the appearance of a small increase in his power. But that’s about all. He’s always had the defensive footwork, slippery toughness, and the incredible workrate. Watch him fight Winky Wright in 2005 and frustrate the heck out of one of the greats. The crowd thought he deserved to win (even if the CompuBox Stats supported the judges decision). And he did win rounds 11 and 12 that day, so he’s always had huge energy and stamina to last 12 rounds. Nothing new there.

He was unlucky for a long period of time because no one wanted to fight him. Geale avoided him for years. But he’s always been a world class fighter and his record at 160 is exemplary.

Boxing is an unforgiving sport. So glad he’s won a title and I really hope he can cash in now the shoe’s on the other foot and people are lining up to fight him instead of the other way around. He deserves it.

Actually i did check but clearly not good enough, i didn't click on the Oceania link, i clicked on the accredited and approved labs links and didn't see any come up in AUS. Thank you for correcting me on this, it now raises something that goes to prove how dodgy the soliman camp really are..

Now the WADA rules about the B Sample state that it is tested at the request of the athlete that's tested positive from the A sample and its opening is witnessed by the athlete or representatives of the athlete at the same WADA approved lab the A sample was tested at (in Germany), Solimans camp refused to do so and wavier their right to have the B sample tested by the WADA. As stated above they wanted it tested in a WADA approved lab in AUS. Stanley even goes on to say..

So then why is it that the portion of the B sample they obtained was not sent to the WADA approved LAB in Australia, note this lab tests for all banned substances on the WADA banned substance list and have very stringent testing protocols. Why was it sent to a non-approved WADA Lab in America instead?

Surely if they had nothing to hide and wanted to prove Sam's innocence then it would have been tested by a WADA Approved LAB, after all its what they claim they wanted. You see the private lab in USA doesn't test for all WADA banned substances and the test results were never made public, they never showed exactly what this LAB tested his urine for. They lost all credibility by going with a private LAB and used it as a spin story to try and get it out in the media that Sams B sample tested Negative.

Lets say you crash your car, and a blood sample if taken to test you for illegal substances, you test positive for crack. The test is conducted by a forensic lab approved by the police. Now you can try to fight this, and clear your name but you must prove that a lab which is also approved, or at the very least, has tested the same blood sample, has done so and tested for crack. You cant just go have it tested, tell them to test for everything other than crack, and when it comes back negative, claim you are clean.

This is exactly what Soliman has done. If you cant see it then your pretty farkn ******ed aye. :good

It was an IBF sanctioned fight, so what matters is what the IBF sanctioned American lab was supposed to be testing for. Whatever that American lab tested for was correct under IBF rules. And Sam was clean. End of discussion. Talk about anything else is just chatter, and misses this crucial point.

Besides, I’m sure we can all agree (any of us who understand the notion of fairness), that 9 months is more than a reasonable punishment for taking an energy drink containing tiny traces of some substance which debatably, potentially gives some kind of advantage.

What’s the point of continuing to talk about this now anyway? He beat Sturm fair and square and handled Sturm more easily the second time around than the first. Sam Soliman is a legit, well deserved World Champion. Give it up.

He did not win fair & square he cheated by using PEDS that is the crucial point. It brings into question all of Soliman's victories, how long has he been juicing? We don't know exactly but I would suggest a long time before he was caught red handed. Don't you find it suspicious that Soliman is a better fighter now at age 40 then he ever was in his 20's or 30's? The bloke is a dead set grub and I wouldn't put anything past him.

The HBO team thought Soliman was a circus clown

 

I didn't see the fight live but seen it a few days after and had to laugh at Aussie fans/journos and Sam himself thinking he won that fight.
