My apologies if this thread has already been done before, but basically just post your own lists regarding the hardest P4P punchers in history. My own top ten wold probably look something like this 1. Julian Jackson 2. Earnie Shavers 3. Sandy Saddler 4. Tommy Hearns 5. Jose Cuevas 6. Archie Moore 7. Sugar Ray Robinson 8. Alexis Arguello 9. Sonny Liston 10. Jack Dempsey
Shavers power is overrated IMO , I'd have Marciano or foreman on mine, prince naseem wouldn't be far off, pacman power has carried from flyweight to light middle Wlad, tyson deserve a mention too and jimmy wilde
Heavyweight-Marciano 188lbs- Langford 180lbs Light Heavyweight- Archie Moore-Bob Foster-Fitz Middleweight-SRR- Stanley Ketchel Super-W-Julian Jackson Welter-Tommy Hearns light weight Roberto Duran
hearns maybe the deadliest single shot in boxing history Jackson such a knack for the knockout and great timing Rosario one punch bomber mugabi never went the distance seemed to have haggler out on his feet Tyson fast and explosive punch at him and youre out foreman jesus! mclellan a stylistic blend between hearns and arguello a razor sharp accurate ko merchant
Let's talk little guys. Flyweight and below- German Torres could crack as could Ricardo Lopez. Chiquita Gonzalez has the numbers but as far as turning out the lights with one punch I think I would take Michael Carbajal. Wilde is the gold standard but not really a one punch guy. Antonio Avelar might just be your man. Bantam- Zarate, Olivares, Wilfredo Gomez, and Olivares. Alfonso Zamora might have hit harder with a single punch than any of them. Charles Ledoux was something of a legend but all that's left is words and testimony. Khaosai Galaxy put together a hall of fame career on nothing more than grit, balls, conditioning, and a punch worthy of a 180 lber. Yet I'm sure a good number of knowledgeable posters would say that Sung Kil moon hit as hard, even if he sometimes forgot that his head was not a third fist. Featherweight- Naseem Hamed had questionable opposition for some but unquestionable two fisted knockout power. The Prince could put guys down with any punch, from either hand, at baroque angles. Just a spooky hitter. Alexis Arguello was the exact opposite in that he was a purists delight, but the end result was the same. He beat everybody he could hit consistently up until Pryor. Danny Lopez right hand was a religious experience. And Aurelio Herrera might be the hardest puncher ever. A staggeringly hard hitter.
Jose Canizales Michael Carbajal Julian Jackson Lionel Butler Bert Cooper David Tua Robert Fitzsimmons Israel Contreras Gennady Golovkin Pacquiao (122-140)
Stanley Ketchel Bob Fitzimmons Julian Jackson Earnie Shavers Thomas Hearns Pipino Cuevas Juan Roldan George Foreman Naseem Hamed Donovan Ruddock Gerald McClellan
I care the heavyweights only. 1.Tyson, easily. He was the only man who could knock Larry Holmes out. -maybe Tyson was the only man who cold knock a tall ,steel-chinned ATG power ko. (Ali knocked Foreman out by stamina problem.) -Tyson was the only man who knocked Spinks out, Tyson was the first man who knocked Thomas,Biggs,Tubbs out in pro. Only Tyson and Mercado(a decent puncher) could knock Berbick out. This Berbick ko is total underrated.Berbick had 61 fights with 441 rounds and only 2 ko losses. -Tyson's one punch ko power is underrated by the haters .Check the Berbick,Zouski, Tubbs,C,williams,Botha,Tillman,Johnson,Colay,Etienne KOs out! - Tyson could break bones easily. He broke Nelson's,Ferguson's,Scaff's,Boyd's nose, Ruddock's jaw,Golota's skull. What was the biggest damage by Lewis , w.klitschko? 2. Lewis 3. Joe Louis 4. Foreman. (Foreman is overrated nowadyas.I think he never knocked out a decent or better fighter out by one punch. his best kos: glass-chinned Norton,glass-chinned Lyle, glass-chinned Moorer,glass-chinned bad Cooney and Frazier. 5.Marciano Shavers is one of the most overrated athlete in the sport history. His legendary ko king status based on blah-blah.Ok he has 68 KOs including great/amazing fighters like with actual record before Shavers :Roy(ZERO Fight),Froncano(zero fight),Asher (1-10-0),Jim Daniels(zero fight),Estes(11-26-3),Agabab(zero fight),W.Johnson(19-30-2), Pittman(0-15-2),C.Daniels(7-24-2),Walters(2-12-0),Bailey(18-35-5),Carter(15-25-3), Howard(2-17-2),Carter (22-47-4),Hamilton (1-29-0), Rodgers(3-19-1),B.J.Thomas (3-11-0),Clinard(0-3-0),Sims(3-18-3) and the unforgettable Nat Shaver(0-1-0)(Not Shavers)also. Otherwise the fantastic Nat Shaver finished his carrier with an incredible impressive 0-14(ko6)-1 record. OK ,Shavers knocked the glass-chinned and FADED Norton out. This proves nothing. But what about Hamilton,Clinard,PIttman,Howard,Roy,Walters,Asher,Estes,Froncano, Agabab,Sims? Basically Shavers was ridicolous. He was a hard puncher but he wasn't a real good fighter and this "Shavers is the hardest puncher ever" idiotism saves his legacy.Without this blah-blah he's a nobody.
Shot for shot Foreman, Shavers & probably Ruddock hit harder than Tyson. Don't forget he was punching men who were usually much bigger than himself. His speed & punch accuracy was what made him effective more so than power alone. A quote from a couple of opponents.... Biggs...." It wasn't so much the power but the speed & pressure that was difficult to deal with " Ruddock...." He does punch hard FOR HIS SIZE "
funny because you put liston above foreman pfp when thy both were hws and foreman did hit harder with both hands, and pfp how is shavers above hearns
