Everyone has plenty of Respect for Cotto, BUT...

He was steered to fight for the title because it was a good business decision / a fight against a washed up Martinez wherein a title could be taken.

He will be steered to fight, as a champion, initially against boxers who will not likely beat him, so the team can capitalize on that title.

The larger money fights are Canelo and Golovkin. Both have risks. So if he fights either one, my guess is that it will be after a couple of other fights.

I love Cotto, but he ain't fighting GGG.

At this point, he wants to take winnable fights that present a lot of money.

If you can't see that then you do not understand boxing.

Cotto's wife will tell him not to fight. I remember an scene of a emotional boxing video, where a scene between him and his wife was at the beginning. She said something like she can not endure it anymore. Cotto answered then: "That's the only thing I can do".

I can imagine her watching GGG vids and she will persuade him to fight Canelo for a last huge paycheck and then retire. He made enough money and he doesn't have to proof anything. I wouldn't blame him for ducking GGG.

I blame Quillin, Sturm, Ward, Froch, Murray and all the other, who had the chance ..

cotto's fighting canelo on cinco de mayo next year.

golovkin should fight the winner. in the mean time he should also take on a meaningful opponent. canelo/cotto will be a war and both should be diminished from the fight. it's only fair that golovkin stop taking on these walk over opponents and face a live dog.
