Who had the best left uppercut that you've..

Ever seen and why?

 

Man, a good one can certainly bring about the end of a fight real quick.

Foreman.

Throws a perfect one. off his lead foot even. Can throw it while moving his feet. Devastating punch and he does not have to land many. Not even telegraphed. He mixes it in right after that jab. He throws a left hook or the right hand or uppercuts with both hands. 4 punches to worry about. That helps. Because the trouble throwing it telegraphed is a guy can be beat to the punch by a straight right hand.

I don't know what sparring would prepare a guy for that kind of thing. Best thing would be an upright boxer type guy almost impossible to hit with uppercuts like a Young or an Ali.

 

Manny Pacquiao, Julio Cesar Chavez and maybe Wilfredo Gomez

 

He was throwing that beautifully especially in the Cooney fight, even though he didn't look like he was putting anything into it the effects are devastating.

 

I was at the Ledoux fight. It sure wasn't viewed as a competitive match but George staying busy. And Scott was known then as a durable guy.

That uppercut Foreman landed might well have been a gunshot. Everyone in the arena knew it was over. Don't bother counting ref. Go help Scott instead.

And he put a durable and tough guy in a heap. You don't see the tough guy's in a heap--usually it's tko wear down type endings or still trying. But you could sense it and taste it in the audience--just that feeling you get with the hitters at a fight live. 2 seconds later and Geroge backed him into that corner and it was frightening.

And do lefty's turn pro in proportion to their numbers in the general population? You would think MORE would since tricky for most to handle, but I do not think this is the case.

Funnily enough I watched this fight just the other day. Ledoux took some big shots for sure...even came back with one or two of his own.

 

I'm a leftie and speaking from experience, it's not that easy throwing either a left hook or left uppercut from a southpaw stance, because your weight is on the right foot.
It's much easier to get torque into throwing a right uppercut instead. That was the case for me at least.
