Gavin's got good skills, footwork and handspeed but lacks power and as a poster before said it's pointless to throw one shot at a time when you have average power at best.

Could do with working on combo's and start doubling up his jab too.

I think tonight showed us that in the first 5 rds Gavin can be the UK's most skilled fighter but not the most complete one. His lack of punching power could well stop him from ever progressing beyond European level.

True Gavin didn't have the power to hold Bundu off.Mind you you do wonder what Bundu is doing at 39 to perform like that he is a bit of a beast.....think he would trouble anyone performing like he did tonite.

Amir seems to forget he was spanked out in a round by a lesser fighter then Bundu.

Yeah. No need for that. Given that any of his supposed potential opponents pre-Mayweather will flatten him we'll see how he likes it.

It was hard to not be amazed by Bundu's stamina again last night. And remembering the amount of punishment he took from Purdy who, whatever his faults, can bang. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to work it out does it?

Lets be really honest people...last night was about frankie's level. Very skilled fighter compared to your average british fighter. But it's a very amateur style. If he's as good as everybody says he'd be beating a 39 year old bundu. Think the biggest problem lies with frankie/everyones expectations. Storming out of the ring believing he'd been robbed etc. Telling us that he'd perform better when he steps up in competition saying he wants to fight khan after beating nobody. All the excuses we've heard so far....because he does have a good level of skill he's one of them fighters everybody's willing to make excuses for.

The truth is it's actually holding him back. I can imagine the pressure he's under. People expect big from him and when he doesnt deliver he/we need to make excuses. All the while hiding from the truth. It's time for him to face up to it and everybody else....it doesn't look like he's ever going to be world level. He's skilled but what they're doing with him and franks an expert in it eddie's becoming one....just manouvering him into positions to win titles etc. Seemingly he's ranked in the top 5 by a few of the belts.

Last night was needed i think it could end up a blessing in disguise. He can now face up to where he's at and then hopefully move forward. He's at that level now no point taking him backwards. But talking about beating world level operators need to end for now anyway. And as much as his style can be good to watch....it's not an effective style in the pro's. He lost that fight by a good margin for me....it's hard to score for the back foot fighter if his punches dont have any impact whatsoever especially when the other fighters backing you up and landed with better shots. It's not the amateurs as much as people score it as such when frankie fights. He's no power in the shots. They need to break his style down completely and at the end of the day he's more suited to the amateur game. Great talent he is. Sure there's a trainer out there that can get him fighting effectively in the pro's tho. I honestly think the ingles would be perfect for him.

Failing that Adam booth would do allright with him. Dont think the rest of the pack of trainers would benefit him nearly as much. His style suits them trainers to a tee for me. There's probably better trainers out there for different styles but not many better for his one imo

Not all doom and gloom...even tho it was a defeat. A good few positives to take out of last nights fight for frankie.

Are you serious? He's 29, not beaten anyone outside of domestic level and that wasn't a time for doom and gloom?

He's been touted by so many as a future world champion (I've no idea why) and in a fight he'd be expected to win comfortably he gets deservedly beaten.

Where does he go from here?

Hell Purdy put up a better fight than Gavin imo.

What you want the guy to retire?? Give it up everybody said you'll be champion. You've failed at the first hurdle so thats it everythings doom and gloom you've no chance. Is that what your saying??

There's many many fighters over the years that have went on to prove that wrong

The reason i said it's not all doom and gloom means it is doom and gloom but not all there's some positives to take from it. I can list them if you needed but can imagine most posters will know what i m saying. Frankie showed he was up for a fight when he got put over for example. We've all seen fighters fold in the past under presurre. Bundu isnt exactly a bad fighter it's not like he got beat by someone thats domestic level. It was a competetive fight. Frankie still has very good skills.Regardless what people believe frankie was strong in their....even if the power just isn't there...looked the stronger of the two. Maybe with people's expectations being lowered will maybe ease the pressure a bit.

I dont really see what your saying i m saying it was a time for doom and gloom but there's some positives to take from it. Whereas your making out i m saying it's not doom and gloom it's all positive really. If i d have said that your post would have been a reasonable reply otherwise it's not
