Anybody that knows anything about boxing knows any boxer can be beaten. And fighters know boxers that can cause them mass problems in the ring. Most boxers avoid those problems. Mayweather is no exception. Pac is a problem for him not that he cannot defeat Pac . High risk Low reward. why take the chance.

I seriously think the dumb code is easy to crack. I still think margarito woulda beat him. Iron chin, 100 punches a round, zero respect for his opponent and he was a big welter. U can say maidana already tried that but come on...margarito slaughters maidana. Yes he's a cheater. Never shoulda been allowed back in the ring...but his style and chin woulda been enough. Paul coulda beat him to I think. For many of the same reasons but Add a better skillset and speed and subtract a little physicality and power. Don't have to reach back in history to find someone to beat floyd. Pac still out there to. Whether he can beat floyd or not...it's a question that should be answered before we go searching the past for someone who maybe could have "cracked the code."

Mayvinchi code...the code that certain experts aren't allowed to try to decipher..lol what a joke and hoax. I think it would have already been cracked if certain fighters were actually given a shot to crack it...at least one or two.

hearns 100% has a better shot then any fighter in my opinion of beating floyd and i highly favor him... even SRR would have a harder time then hearns

At or around the same size these guys could have a great chance: Duran, Pryor, Whitaker, Chavez,......but that is probably it vs. a prime FMJ, he's that damn good.

Hearns. Very bad style match up for Mayweather.

Sugar Ray Leonard would also have a very good chance. Mayweather has better defence, but Leonard was just as quick, hit much harder, and had some solid boxing skills of his own. He was also versatile, able to box on the move or go on the attack, and one of his favourite things to do (throwing fast flurries) would be useful against someone with a low punch output like Mayweather. It wouldn't be an easy match for either fighter, and even someone as good as Leonard would have trouble getting through Mayweather's defence, but I think his combination punching would give him an edge in close rounds.

Another fighter that would make for an interesting match against Mayweather: Whitaker. I don't know if he would actually beat Mayweather, but it would certainly be competitive. Whitaker's jab, southpaw stance, defensive skills and movement would pose issues for Mayweather.

I'm sure people will also mention Sugar Ray Robinson, but I haven't watched enough footage of him to really judge how he would do against Mayweather.

fair enough, hearns is obvious because he's much taller and his reach is ridiculous, and he's the hardest hitting welterweight ever(he's number 1 on every list ive seen). leonard was a runner, and sweet pea is a stylistic nightmare for floyd, he's just as fast, has great defense and he's a southpaw, i give him the edge and robby had power, if floyd was to stay away from his power he'd win a UD because robby didn't swarm, he boxed so there's no way he would beat floyd if he didn't knock him out, but that chance is pretty high.

Hearns is a terrible stylistic matchup for him.

Also, I'm usually not an "OMG, these guys fought in black and white so they're unstoppable!!" kind of person, but there's no way he could've survived with an unblemished record in the insanely stacked welterweight divisions of the 30's-50's, particularly if he was matched as aggressively as those guys were.
