Hopkins is beyond any claims that he is the best ever

Hopkins at 49 transcend his sport right now. He is beyond hall of fame, or claims he could be the best ever. By taking KOvalev, a dangerous ko artist that other boxers are ducking, Hopkins is at 49 a phenomenon any sport included, but especially boxing since it is such a brutal sport.

 

You can make a case of him being the best ever in terms of not ducking I mean look who he's faced during his career:

And the scary part is most of the people on the list he faced in his mid 30s and up, If I'm not mistaken isnt he the only fighter to Hold WBC, WBO, IBF, & WBA at the same time?

 

He is the only man to unify all the belts.
And Hopkings began his LHW run at the age of 41 He was the underdog against Tarver, Calzaghe(i might be mistaken here), Pavlik, Pascal x2, Dawson, Cloud and he will be the underdog against KOvalev aswell.

I agree Hopkins is the best ever competitor in boxing .

 

The man would have had Toney on his resume as well if it hadn't been for Don King trying his usual shenanigans and reducing his contractually agreed minimum purse.

The jump up in weight to fight Tarver at 41 was seen as a huge risk, the fight with the younger Pavlik the man who had beaten the man who had beat him at middleweight was another risk. Fighting Calzaghe who had just cleaned out super middle, then fighting Dawson who everyone was saying he was avoiding and some saying he should avoid then chasing the rematch. He then calls out Kovalev twice and gets him the 2nd time a man who is being avoided by everyone but Hopkins. It's just amazing how driven Hopkins is even at this late stage of his career.

When you look at the huge risk he is taking against a man seen not only as the best at light heavy but a man who is a dangerous puncher and has killed one man already it's mind boggling that some people will most likely still accuse Hopkins of ducking Jones Jr or that he faked the injury in the first Dawson fight.

 

Yeah, he's cherrypicking the consensus #1 fighter in his division. Such an opportunist. :-(

But at this point weither or not Hopkins have said some racist comment in the past is not relevant to me. He is 49 and what he is doing is humanly respectable regardless of his political views.

Hopkins is an individual who stands out in what he does! His record might never be beaten. 50 and 0 might be beaten. Being a world champion at Hopkin's age, fighting for a unification... I doubt that anybody will come close in a forseable futur.

 

Can't stand Bhop and his style, but infinite respect for his career. Truly one of the greatest's.

 

His resume is second to none among his era, but DLH isnt a worthy name for that list, blown up and fat at 160 and never having won a fight a middleweight....because he damn sure didnt beat sturm

I find him as boring as **** compared to Pacquiao but being objective there is an argument that BHop is greater than both Pacquiao and Mayweather.

 

De La Hoya was only blown up against Sturm. Against Hopkins he was just one pound over the Jr. Mw limit so it was a fight between a Jr MW and legitimate MW. Heck, Hopkins even drained himself down to 156
