All the time after fights guys who lose blame overtraining or leaving it in the gym Hatton said it against mayweather for example and in the Browne fight last night heard one of the commentators mention may have overtrained (tbh didn't look as if had trained looked shattered after 3 rounds IMO also lost fight had Ukrainian up 2) but guys like floyd train constantly never struggle with 12 rounds mayb if some these guys trained all year or didn't take 6months in between fights would it make a difference obvs times have changed but bak in day guys would fight in a monthly basis and 15 rounders seemed to cope ok
It's not a myth. But it's up to the fighter and their team to train properly. If they don't, then it's their own fault.
Browne vs Towers was a fight they should show people they wish to torture. The clinching that went on was painful to behold. Browne always looks ****ed. He clearly doesn't train properly. If he's not knocking his opponent out early, it's going to be an eyesore.
Underresting, IMO. If you're not getting the right amount of rest and your nutrition isn't spot on, it's easy to pull the 'overtraining' card out.
Think i read somewhere that it's a myth. The general consensus is moving towards it not being true. I call bull-**** on that....we've all been in situations where we've trained sometimes harder than ever. And everythings been off when it comes to match-day or fights or whatever. Even the best trainers etc can get it wrong from time to time. I actually think it can be a valid excuse...just not nearly as much as it's used nowadays. The top fighters Introducing a more scientific approach now...so less chance of them coming in over-trained for it.
Yes mate, only that it seems to me when folk claim overtraining, it usually means 'unbalanced' training. Too much of one thing at the expense of another, or simply not enough quality rest. Seems to me it's often used by the lazy or plain dumb to describe poor or ill thought out training, rather than actually working to over capacity, which is what the word implies to me. Most folk don't work anywhere near hard enough to approach that. Just my two pennorth. I guess it all comes down to how you interpret the word..
Think it depends on the persons genetics, some people respond well to training 3 times a day etc where others perform better with more rest, basically i feel it comes down to the individual.
