Both came across as very respectful in these interviews. I've never been Fitz's biggest fan but fair play to him, he seems to have changed his attitude since moving to the MGM. Came across as very grounded there. As for who's going to win the fight: it's anyone's guess. Should be a brilliant one either way.
No,he passed the medical this morning, fight probably wont go the three rounds though so needs to start fast,
Well done Paddy Barnes and Mick Conlan, would love to see Paddy go pro now, he is a little fire ******* would make a top pro fly weight, also hard luck to Micalea Walsh she pushed the Olympic Gold medalist all the way, great stuff again from N Irish boxers, 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze .
I agree wholeheartedly about Barnes, but it's a matter of whether a promoter can make him a decent enough offer or not. No point a fighter of that level turning pro if you're not gonna earn some good money.
Why on earth did Barnes chose his medal ceremony to make an unnecessary point. Danny boy is a neutral anthem and boxing has always avoided this shite. Brilliant fighter who I've supported in the Olympics and for Northern Ireland but so disappointed in this turn of events.
why so serious ? some people just can't wait to jump on any little thing like that....and it is a little thing that....the lad is a boxer who has made a wonderful achievement.....he's not a political leader....take it for what it is....don't jump on a bandwagon saying how disappointed you are in him.
Remember when he won the bronze in Beijing? I was in Milan when he lost in the Worlds and he hurled his gloves-and worse!-at the judges, knocking over the clock and bell! Paddy is Paddy, and everybody on this island should rejoice on probably our most succesful amature male boxer ever, Nevin been his only opposition for this accolade. Well done Barnes and Conlon too dispite the cut. Class.
I have to say Im enjoying the boxing without headguards desite the cuts.Boxers are going to have to learn to fight behind the jab more so to keep that space.
Think Conlon should go pro at this stage. Hes at a weight now where he may actually be able to make some money. Barnes is unfortunately at a weight where there is pretty much no money to be had, so hes as well off staying in Olympic style boxing. Conlon would do well to follow his brother into the pro ranks, could make a great career for himself.
